I can't say whether or not it's worth it now; I got it when it first was available (pre-launch) and I certainly don't regret it. You basically need to wager whether or not you think you'll still be playing in 18 months, or whatever the break-even point is now.

At $300, a monthly sub would last you 20 months. However, Once you pick up the LTS, you get a monthly Zen stipend of 500 Zen ($5 value); so you could figure that in to the math and you'd come up the $300 being worth 15 months of sub time - assuming you also bought $5 of zen every month of those 15 months to make up the value you'd get under an LTS.

On top of that, you get instant access to all the vet rewards, including the 1000 day destroyer - which is actually a very good little ship, regardless of what class you're playing.

For those of us that bought the LTS early on, the issue was whether the game would survive long enough for the purchase to pay for itself. At this point, though, STO seems to be doing very well and is fairly stable, I think it would easily survive another 15-20 months. So, the only question left is whether or not you think you'll maintain your own interest level in for that long.

It's a great value if you can afford to pay such a large cost up front. I'm personally very happy with my decision to get it.

Actually, I should say I'm not entirely certain if the monthly Zen stipend is still included in the offer - it's possible that was something they only give people who had an LTS before F2P went live... anyone else know about this?

All I can add is I regret not getting it early on. Then again that was back before F2P. With F2P I've never been able to justify putting down that much for what the system currently offers. I'd like to have the ship to tinker with it, but I've learned you always fall back on your favorite trek ships anyway. If you paying a sub and plan on doing so, I would just go ahead for the Lifetime.

For your question Shack, Jason should be able to answer. I think he got his after F2P.

The monthly stipend, as best my knowledge, is a GOLD member perk. Buying a LTS automatically makes you a gold member... therefore you get the stipend.

EDIT:

ahh found it
http://sto.perfectworld.com/about/freetoplay/features-matrix

the last point on the matrix

I've finally decided just to buy the lifetime myself.

Thanks for that, though I guess that does push the math back to 20 months - I thought it was LTS only.
