I've not seen it anywhere so thought I would start a thread for it. What is the best way to come about better warp cores? Like Mk XI Blue and above.
I know there are Mk X blues in dilithium store and of course outrageously priced ones on the exchange. Just wondering if it's a "lucky drop" deal or you can earn the better ones.

There are drops, and there are also DOff assignments. I've only seen the assignments through your Engineering department head thusfar.

For Klingons one of the new missions gives a warp core as a reward. If you go back and replay that mission it should give you an appropriately tiered warp core. I searched through alot of the Federation missions and I couldnt find any warp cores added to the rewards lists. I don't know if Nimbus 3 might have any.

I believe "A Fist full of Gorn" in the Nimbus AZ rewards one as well

All the old Episode based missions gave those on the Fed and Klink sides -The Breen/Deferi "Cold War" Missions, the 2800 Cardassian/Dominion Episodes lots of ship equipment to include engines, shields, and deflectors as choices at he end of the mission, but not as drops.

Was your assignment through your Eng head like p'Rett said? I've still not seen any or come across drops. I had a few million sitting around so bought a blue Mk XI. However going to see if I can re-sell for triple the price.

The desired traits for DOffs are Teamwork, Logical and (I think) Efficiency.

Lucky, still nothing on my end. I might be stuck with the one I bought, doesn't look like my re-selling idea is going to happen.

Try fly to different zones and searching. That's what worked for me.

I got the Eng. DOff assignment 2 out of 4 visits to the Omega Leonis sector, as a Fed character. I created 2 blue cores. I also got the assignment in the Beta Ursae sector. I tried to put an Uncommon core in the fleet bank, but it was bonded to me.
Good hunting!

Of note is that if your Engineering Department Head (DH) doesn't have it on the list in your current sector, you can get a different list by changing sector groups. A sector group is a group of sector blocks; opening the map in game and going to the Galaxy Map tab, a sector group will be surrounded by a border of a particular color. For example, the Sirius, Regulus and Pi Canis sector blocks are all part of the same same sector group.
