Good to meet you!  My name is Kagi Vayun, newbie to the 7th Fleet.  Thank you for accepting me; I'm looking forward to working with you.  I hope I don't bug you with the questions I'll likely be asking you.  I look forward to working with all of you, and please let me know if I can help with anything.

Two answers.

IC: On Vayun's homeworld, Kirador in the days of sailing ships, Mist Ravens were noble, wise ravens kept by ships's crews.  When lost or blinded by storms or fog, the mist raven would be released.  It would set out for the shore, guiding the ship to safe harbor.  Sadly, the mist raven would often drown of exhaustion before it reached the shore.  They would guide the lost to safety at the cost of their own lives.  Honored for their noble sacrifice, mist ravens are considered the symbolic animal of Kirador.  To this day on Kirador, to have it said that you on are the "path of the mist raven" is seen as being on a mission of almost certain death, but saving countless others through your sacrifice; a bittersweet honor.  The naming of the USS Mist Raven signifies the willingness of her Captain and crew (many of whom are natives of Kirador) to guide the lost home to safe shelter.  If that means an unknown, unmourned death alone in the black...so be it.

 

OOC: It sounded cool, it fits with the back story of my character, and I have some ideas about the patch I will request when the time comes.
