re: Dilithium Exchange Nonsense

So if you haven't looked at the Dil Exchange lately, the rate is nearing 300 to 1, which is insane. As I'm writing this the lowest is 292 to 1. To put this in perspective, let's do some quick napkin math assuming you had 10 toons, and hit your daily limit on each character every day (excluding 1000 days vets and Fleet Dil Mine), and wanted to buy a new T-6 Zen ship.

10 x 8,000 = 80,000

3,000 x 300 = 900,000

900,000 / 80,000  = 11.25

So assuming you had that many toons and that much time to earn dilithium, it would take you more than 11 days of some serious grinding. For those of us with only five toons, it would obviously take twice as long. Personally, I don't think the rates are worth the time and effort, but if you are fully committed to being f2p and you want that shinny new ship . . . good luck.

I the flip side of this coin, if you have the Zen stashed away for a rainy day, now might be the time to cash in.  I have never seen Dilithium going for over 300-to-One zen (plus).

Yep. Sold ~1200 Zen and got an ungodly amount of Dil for it. Personally, I think cryptic should place a cap (say 200 to 1), but if people are willing to pay . . .

It is just another example of the runaway inflation in the game and how utterly broken the economy is. The inflation bubble started at the beginning of the winter event and shows no signs of slowing down. I see no action being taken by Cryptic because runaway inflation encourages (read: forces) players to spend real money on extra Zen for stuff. All I plan on doing at this point is stockpiling my dilithium. Fortunately, the recent Raptr giveaway of a T6 Escort at least gives me a spiffy ship to run around with until the bubble bursts.

While.I think Cryptic should do something, I dont blame them for not doing anything. Everything I'm this game can be done as a 100% f2p. It may take you a while, but technically everything in this game can be acquired with spending a dime.

As for the inflation, this is the layers fualt. Players wanted more dilithium in-game, largely so that they good avquite Zwn for free. They got it. Those who were willing to pay money for the Zen knew that there was more Dil and raised. The f2p crowd kept paying. We've had Dil weekend after Dil weekend as of late so, the prices are soaring. The EC prices are another story.

AS someone that's not F2P, the prices are awesome right now.  As a lifetime sub, the 500 Zen that I get every month is able to net a LOT more Dil than usual.  I don't feel Cryptic should change it all...there's no reason at all that they should cater to the F2P crowd.

Wow. My spelling in that last post was absolutely atrocious. Like something you might find in a Foundry mission.

They absolutely should cater to  the "F2P crowd" these players matter.

Realistically lets look at what F2P is you don't have a subscription but play the game and in general have probably had to spend money in this game to get a ship you wanted or two or seven. There is no such thing as free to play in this game. One way or another you are dropping money in this game. "F2P" just makes it way more marketable then "micro transactions 2 play"

At this point ignore the subscription crowd of course they don't want the free to play crowd catered to...they bought in to the game and then it went F2P....they are rightly a little butt hurt.

Also FUCK YOU CAIN.

By the very definition F2P, it means the people that don't spend any or very little on the game.  There is no reason to cater to them as they do nothing more than take up server space.  You don't ignore the people that keep the lights on...

Well they chose to go f2p so clearly they disagree with you.

F2P players still drop money in to the game. Doesn't matter how much it is.

and clearly they are being listened to despite all the whining from the sub crowd.

No matter where you go subers cry about the same things. LOL

Going F2P didn't doesn't say that at all as subs still get benefits that the peasants don't.  The amount one puts in absolutely matters.  If they were being listened to, I'd see a cap on the Dil exchange...nope still not there.  The subs don't "cry" any more or less than the F2P crowd.  That being said, most companies, including those with a F2P model, tend to mange things in a way that benefit the people that ensure that they have a job.

Don't you have a Foundry mission to be misspelling?

Yea but we see more and more free  t6 ships and upgrades you originally had to pay for like the t5-t5u upgrade now are free more then once a year.

The only advantage subs have is 500 zen a month. thats really it. EC is irrelevant and who cares about dil? you can buy mainly anything you need with money as the dev's intended.

Face it as a sub you got duped in to dropping money in to a game that went free to play....subs don't keep the lights on lol micro transactions for the entire game keeps the lights on lol.

and actually I'm working on a new foundry mission as we speak :)

but speaking of disappointments

shouldn't you be emasculating yourself and telling your kid you can't build him a soap box race car? Going down to a hardware store to buy a pre-made one like divorced single mom?
