Just a reminder that this used to be hard.  Also, I'm clearly too lazy  to make a new graphic.

https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/9968873

The highlights:

For the next three weeks, from May 19th at 9:00 AM PT to June 9th at 10:00AM PT, Federation, Klingon, and Romulan Republic Captains between levels 50-60 can queue up for our 10-captain “Crystalline Cataclysm” event to defeat the Crystalline Entity and earn one Crystal Shard every 20 hours. After collecting 14 of them, players can complete a new Event Reputation project to be rewarded with 50,000 Dilithium Ore, 500 Fleet Marks, 250 Marks of their choice (Fleet, Omega, Romulan, Nukara, Dyson, Undine, Delta, Iconian or Terran Marks), and the new Crystalline Absorption Matrix Console!

  • Affects foe [3 max]
  • 10 kilometer range; 180 degree cone
  • 2 minute recharge
  • To self: +500 All Energy Damage Resistance
  • Every 3 seconds, to 3 random targets in forward 180’ arc: Apply Matter Conversion Beam for 308.2 Antiproton Damage
  • Once per second when hit by Energy Damage, +13.3% Bonus Damage for Matter Conversion Beam

I remember that event.  The challenge made it so much more fun.  Wasn't that a 20 man mission back then? I forget. I just remember how many failed attempts it took before we figured out a system to get it done.

We played it on Kick a Tribble night this week, and I noted that players don't even bother to get outside the range of the Entity when it's absorbing and about to blast everyone any more.  I don't think they even stopped firing when it was absorbing, and it got blown up in about a minute flat.  We reminisced about how it used to be so hard it took all of us in the Fleet at once to do it, running as a 20 man.  You couldn't fire torps, we would all get together and use repulsors, etc.  Totally different now!  But still a fun map.

Yes, thanks for the video Mr. Mercer. That was some good times. I wish they would bring back more 20 mans...
