Approved -
He said some good things about it, but the negatives tip the balance.
Here are the key issues:
1. It was the Romulans who hadn't been seen for 100 years.
2. The 4 Years War with the Klingons started with a series of Klingon raids on Federation claimed worlds.
3. Oh, oh, don't tell me, don't tell me, the second Captain's name is Garth - Nope! they got that wrong too! Gabriel is not Garth.
4. The Klingons look more like hairless Boslics. And, the bigger Klingon ship looked junky, and at some angles it resembled a Star Wars Y-wing but with an overdone Steampunk make over. It's a wonder Disney doesn't try to sue over the ship. Wrong franchise dudes.
5. I couldn't tell if the Klingon weapon in the space scene was supposed to be a Bat'leth or some sort of archery device without a string.
6. I guess the other Klingons heard the call to arms from the bigger ship - without the need of a communications device - kind of weird.
7. The final straw was the mutiny by the lead character. A Starfleet officer would not do that after being told by the very same Captain that she should have her own command. Starfleet Commanders do not act impulsively like that, it just isn't done.
I'm sorry to be put off so much by this thing masquerading as Star Trek. I am definitely not paying to see what happens next. Hell, The Orville resembles Star Trek more than this does, and it's free.

When life has you down, Mrs. Brown, and things begin to get tough, you had enough of Star Trek Discovery so, go to You Tube and watch this:

You know the show is a bunch of bullshit when they make a fopaw like this:
According to Star Trek: Discovery, Starfleet still runs Microsoft Windows
They are also using archaic things like computer viruses that were designed for Windows/64bit systems. CBS and their would be writers are laughable.

MINOR SPOILERS:
My thoughts while watching episode three:
"Did I really just spend 3 minutes of my life watching a scene of a woman awkwardly crawling through a 'tunnel' quoting Alice in Wonderland?"
"Really? That's a nasty fungal infection... aaaaaand, now she's showering in it."

Yep, this show has some of the most mindless, lazy & simply, god awful writing I've experienced in a long time. The "Alice in Wonderland" schtick was, definitely, dumb. LOL

This is a very funny, yet, cogent analysis of the first 2 episodes. There are spoilers.

Hey guys, first off let me say, thank you for the nomination for the Most Inspirational Forum Post medal. Not sure I deserve it but thank all of you very much.
I just wanted to post an observation on the new trek and what I took in, and seeing the reviews was not surprised about this last episode Context is for Kings. Going to link another review I think sums up what Star Trek discovery is.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIjwCLqdH-8
Very inlighting reviews and there is something about The Orville that is very interesting, Seth's public following on rotten tomatoes is at 90%
https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/orville/s01
I want to like discovery but there are so many plot holes and continuity issues, and the whole thing where they are setting up Discovery as section 31. Discovery has lost all its light and hope , luckily The Orville is picking up that slack.
