Capt Val -- much has changed, and in some cases, not for the better.  My two cents, roll a new toon, and start over.  After about level 40 or so, you will get most of what they have done over the last few years.  I would go with a "Temporal Agent" or "Agent in Time."   Note:  the are moving the level cap up to 65 when they start the new season.  You also be okay if you have Tier 5u ships.  You can also enhance your ground/space gear to MK 14. 

Special note:  We still do Kick-a-Tribble on Monday nights and now use Discord for voice chat.

I agree with Wupteedo, roll a new toon and level up from the beginning, although you can probably skip the tutorial section.  There's nothing really new at that level.  This will get you back into it gradually and build up your enthusiasm to play more as you advance, rather than logging into an old toon from years ago and feeling overwhelmed.  Like Wupteedo says, join us on a Monday night if you like and we can walk you through some stuff.
