re: POPULAR SCIENCE ARTICLE: Traveling faster than light, Pt. 1

I wanted to contribute to our Fleet by presenting you with a series of popular science texts, "Where Science meets Fiction", about Star Trek physics. I'm an astrophysicist, so I believe them to be more or less sensible.
Please follow the link below to read my opening article. I wish to thank Captain Shackelford for proof-reading it (English is not my native language) and for creating this whole Library.
Traveling faster than light - Part 1
Comments and discussion are welcome!

I posted a related subject, "News from 2013 - Warp Drive in Testing Phase," in July. About, both the paper written in 1994 by Dr. Miguel Alcubierre and how NASA scientist are actually working to make it a reality:

The basic premise of all of this is that is doesn't break any of Relativity's rules, because an object hasn't traveled faster than light, space has. And, space has already done this. It was called the Big Bang. So, if any argument arises from this saying it can't be done, well it already has. We are just searching for a way to do it on a smaller scale.

The whole snag: to make the fabric of the Universe fold and do as we please!
