So I'm up for an upgrade and having a hard time making a decision so thought I would ask the fleet since most of you are tech junkies.
I've got an iPhone 4 and I've never had any problems with at all. I've been thinking of testing the waters on the Droid side but I'm kinda on the fence. I would like something new to tinker with, and I know the iPhone wouldn't be much different at all but at the same time worried about going away from something I know I already like. Also use it a lot with my iTunes.
However been looking at the Razr Maxx HD. I know Jason likes his and my brother wishes he never went to an iPhone(got a 4 new/used after his droid suffered a glass break). However most people I know that switched to an iPhone proclaim they will never go back to a Droid phone. That mixed with the fact it's bigger(not a fan of huge phones) and then the 5 leaves me on the fence with it.
So let's hear it. Currently leaning toward Razr just for the fact I want something new and don't want to feel like I'm buying the same thing.

iPhones are for those that like the smartphone concept but are not technically inclined. Its customization is very limited unless you jail break it - which I do not recommend. There are tons of flavors of droids out there. I currently have the Android Razor MAXX thru Verizon. It's a great phone with supreme battery life and customiziable out the wazoo. The wife as the Samsung Galaxy S3, which is considered the top-of-the-line Android smartphone currently.
I also have all my music and vids thru iTunes because I use an iPod to work out with and I have an Apple TV in the living room. There is a great software/app put there for Droids called DoubleTwist. It allows you to synch pretty much anything within your iTunes into an Android phone. The software goes onto your PC and is completely free. You can pay $4.99 for the wifi synch version as well. I have found it to be very user friendly in updating songs, playlists, tv shows, movies etc.
If you have some time, and are looking for a top of the line android, you might want to wait until Samsung release the Galaxy S4. It is due out soon and promises to have some amazing features. I believe pre-orders for it start on April 16.

I'm really leaning toward the Razr Maxx HD. I like the appeal of a longer charge. Yea I've noticed there is not much you can do with an iPhone, guess that's why I'm finding it rather boring now. Didn't read anything about the S4 that makes me really want it. Seems too big and I like the design of the Razr better. Only downside is that I really like the Lifeproof case for the iphone and they don't make them for other phones right now, but talks for the S3. Otterbox cases are just to bulky. What kinda case do you use?

I use a silicon case for mine. Works very well and comes in hundreds of colors. You don't need a hardened case with this phone. The actual phone case itself is made of kevlar. And the battery and micoprosessor are sealed and waterproof.
So when Tanner tosses it in the toilet...you'll be ok.

I'm currently using an iPhone 5 and, yes, mine is jailbroken. Even without doing so, I have always preferred the iPhone hardware. The Android phones have improved a lot in the last few years, so there may be some really quality devices out there, though. All I can say is that the iPhone 5 performs flawlessly and is significantly faster than my iPhone 4 was.

Jason, a buddy at work, and my brother convinced me to go ahead and try a Droid. Never had one so figure I would give it a fair shot before selling my soul on Apple. Plus I would like to try something different, guess you could say bored of the simplicity of iPhone. I've enjoyed my iPhone 4, especially the smaller size. Not sure why everyone is big on having a huge screen, hell I got a laptop already. The only thing that kept me from getting a Droid back in Feb when I could of upgraded was I know I can count on the iPhone with no problems.
I decided with the Razr Maxx HD. Never heard anyone hate on their Razr and all say they love it and the battery with the rugged build of phone was selling points for me. The weight and size I'll just get use to. Thx for input though Jericho and Jason.

I have had both the iPhone and an Android Galaxy S. I play music, guitar, and found that Android lacking in decent software for the task - there is a lot more on the iPhone side. And, some of the PC software I use has companion software for the iPhone. It isn't just not being technical enough - unless you are writing your onw apps.
That said the Android was great for versitility, but you may want to research the provider for the phone service. Providers like AT&T lock the phone down so much that you will run into wanting an app that isn't approved, or want to upgrade the OS only to find the provider block it. The Samsung devices have the best display resolutions and brilliance to the color, but aren't necessarily the best. It is all in what you want to do with it. They all do Internet and e-mail (all are clunky with the e-mail in my opinion). One thing to keep in mind with the service - look at the definition of "Unlimited Internet" and how much you pay for it. If you opt for a limited plan, make sure your phone can be switched to limit its use of the cellular network for access to keep your data from exceeding the plan - in other words you will use WiFi mainly and cellular sparingly. Just things to think about.
