Background Data:

Relos: chief world among 3 very wealthy worlds at the center of the Relos Triumverate. A distant wedge of the federation of human populated worlds that actively rebeled and fought against the federation during the Cardassian war, and is still filled with an unyielding animosity toward star fleet and the United federation of Planets.

During the War Relonian units landed in the capitol city of Tovtu, hunkered down and and fought running street battles with Star Fleet Security (precursor to the Fleet Marines).

Directed savagry was their hallmark and many thousands of non-combatants perished in the destruction. Every planetary government building was systematically attacked, and destroyed (those left standing or intact after the nuke strike) with those leaders of Tovatu trapped inside and KIA. It is estimated that roughly 105,500 civilians lost their lives in the capito city and outlying areas.

Many of those that perished were lost to genetically altered microphages that that were released into into the atmosphere over the capitol city along with two nuclear devices.

One should note that the Nukes were used on the outsides of the capitol city (air bursts east and west respectively) about 40 miles apart and the viral warheads detonated in air bursts directly over the city center 2 hours after the heat and energy disapated after the nukes went off. A devastated populous were all to vulnerable to the microphage attack.

Relonian soldiers wore NBC enhanced armor and remained largely unaffectedby the biological attack. The microphage attack was carried swiftly via planetary air currents around Tovatu and infected another 300,000 more on Tovatu before dying off (needed a host to survive after 48 hours).

Although eventually put down the Relonian rebelion never really ended in the minds of those within the Triumverate, as they still fight to this day with patrol vessels sent from Star Fleet. Being distant, and having lost their prime benefactor most within the top leadership of the fleet believed the insurrection and problem was over...........This simply put, was not the case.

To All,

I am in the early stages of building the background for this story thread Relos Unresolved. Since we are currently in the mission Aftermath it will be a little while 'till we get here. I invite all those in the 7th fleet to add to the background of this thread. Everything we add will just help to flesh it out and make it that much more entertaining.
To that end, I'll add more in a bit.

"Excuse me General Zartan." "Umm Sir, sorry to disturb you..but..."
'What is it Corporal?" "Well I have an urgent communique from Col Corvarin." "O.K., O.K., hand it here"

Sir, the letter began, we have indeed...." The General looked up "orderly your done here, remove yourself and go to your post, NOW."
The orderly, now worried that the tempermental General might decide he was unnecessary as an orderly scurried from the room. Answering phones and receiving messages was no fun but it beat having himself and his family sent to the ore mines or worse an internment camp for undesireables.
Reading the message once more, General Zartan read the letter to its conclusion, so it was as he had hoped, they had indeed found a large seam of gold ore on that God foresaken rock. The Triumverite would be pleased with him and his star could keep rising. Now with enough labor, the gold could be extracted to help rebuild the treasury. Really about the only problem with the operation besides the hostile atmosphere and depth underground was the lack of available labor. Convicts were fine, but hard core criminals were dangerous to each other and the operation. Slaves were hard to come by without a major war underway, however there were always political and societal undesireables to be had; even though they were often used up quickly there was a seeming never ending supply.
Thinking of such needed labor he reached for a phone, and punched the first entry on the speed dial. The other end picked up on the first ring as usual. "Internal Security Office......"
"Sgt I have an orderly, who much to my dismay I just witnessed making an obscene hand gesture to our revered flag, he must be removed.......yes, yes....oh and yes of course round up his entire family.....I am quite certain." Pleased with himself for the quick thinking he was naturally pleased with the monotone reply..."Right away Sir."

Now to find another orderly who would hopefully do his job better......
