re: USS Atlanta Bridge Officer of the Month
USS Atlanta Bridge Officer of the Month
Lieutenant Prozac Flouxe Time - Vulcan Engineer
The USS Atlanta Believes in PROZAC.
Prozac is always so calm, sure he is Vulcan, but there is something else about him. He always has your back. We do not believe that he sleeps.
He commands the Lt Engineering Station, He goes to the Academy, He is there on almost every away mission. Prozac can be moody for a Vulcan, but I would trust his decision 71% any day of the week.
Lieutenant Studies
Emergency Power to Shields 1 - S9
Weapons Malfunction 1 - S9
7MD Boarding Party 1 - S9
Remote Power to Shields 1 - S1
Once you begin to look at what each BO does for you, and what ship system they need to help them, what skill goes with your skills, what skills go with your ships equipment, whats the best I can make with that right now. . . . wow. What a cool game.

re: Under Seige for the second day
Encounters in the RL business sector continue to be met with hostility.
Under Seige for the second day, the Atlanta was barraged at early dawn, a wave of Sonic Attack MIV, followed by hails of Verbal Demands MI, whew, I haven't even finished my coffee. Not much different than any other tour of duty in a hostile zone.
Number One, Call the Judge and Mister Ruger to my
Ready Room. I want extra security today. Lets get the
Glock Twins to cover all ingress and egress points.
Tap...Sir, Yes Sir.
The skirmish continued later in the afternoon with another
barrage of Insults I, Abusive Language MII, Curse Words MIV,
Superiority Wave MII, Lawyer MI & Idle Threat MI. Personal Insults MIV, Threats to Person and Livelihood MI, IQ Test MIII, etc
Nothing the Atlanta can't handle. Returning to Starbase 39 for
re-supply.
and as I go to close my log. Yellow Alert SIr, Shit, Not another wave?

re: What the hell does ABLATIVE mean?
I have 2 Ablative Consoles
E1E - Ablative Hull Armor MIII
E2L - Ablative Hull Armor MIII
ABLATIVE
In spacecraft design, ablation is used to both cool and protect
mechanical parts and/or payloads that would otherwise be damaged
by extremely high temperatures. Two principal applications are heat
shields for spacecraft entering a planetary atmosphere from space
and cooling of rocket engine nozzles. Examples include the Apollo
Command Module that protected astronauts from the heat of
atmospheric reentry and the Kestrel second stage rocket engine
designed for exclusive use in an environment of space vacuum
since no heat convection is possible.
In a basic sense, ablative material is designed to slowly burn
away in a controlled manner, so that heat can be carried away
from the spacecraft by the gases generated by the ablative
process; while the remaining solid material insulates the craft
from superheated gases. There is an entire branch of
spaceflight research involving the search for new fireproofing
materials to achieve the best ablative performance; this function
is critical to protect the spacecraft occupants and payload from
otherwise excessive heat loading.[1] The same technology is
used in some passive fire protection applications, in some cases
by the same vendors, who offer different versions of these
fireproofing products, some for aerospace and some for
structural fire protection.

re: heat convection is not possible the vacuum of space.
heat convection is not possible in the vacuum of space.
this gave me pause, so I googled it, bad idea.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Convection is the movement of molecules within fluids (i.e. liquids, gases and rheids). It cannot take place in solids, since neither bulk current flows or significant diffusion can take place in solids.
Convection is one of the major modes of heat transfer and mass transfer. Convective heat and mass transfer take place through both diffusion – the random Brownian motion of individual particles in the fluid – and by advection, in which matter or heat is transported by the larger-scale motion of currents in the fluid. In the context of heat and mass transfer, the term "convection" is used to refer to the sum of advective and diffusive transfer.
