Admiral Lang,
Some items I would like to bring up during the meeting are as follows:
1. Communication Issues:
Vent channel revert to old system (TF Names and COs listed).
PM Mailing List protocols and chain-of-command filtering of information.
2. Creation of the MACO War College:
This is modeled after what the Kinkade Research Station is built on, but the MACO War College will focus on everything related to ground combat.
3. Current and future PVP Wars versus real Klingon Fleets.
4. A return to the 7th Fleets' Roleplaying roots, with a new storyline.

I like the idea of the MACO war college. I will be the first to say i don't know much about ground combat, but i love to dive deep into space. Having a separate location, with knowledgeable people running it sounds like a great idea.
just wanted to throw that out there =)

I will very likely be unable to make this, unfortunately. Will have just gotten home from picking up my wife and daughter from the airport.
In regards to this item:

I want to make it known I feel the current system has much better functionality. When I first joined, Vent was organized the way Commodore Blodvaerd suggests we revert to. When I would log on, I'd go to the (empty) TF-77 channel, and then eventually we'd all congregate in the 80th or 88th channel.
The current set-up allows for the social area (643) and the various TACOPS channels for groups/teams. I'm aware Commodore Blodvaerd feels reverting back to the former system would help folks know who their CO is. I'd counter that not having it that way on Vent would encourage folks to check the forums to find that information.

re: Command Staff meeting
All good and valid points by everyone. Task Force channels were meant to be the same as the TACOPS channel just the name is different I felt it gave more of a military feel to it. We could compromise on the definition of the name Taskforce 71 may = TACOPS 1, just a thought...

Would it be possible to keep the SB 643 Social channel AND have the TF channels for operations?

The potential problem, from my perspective, at least, is that any new recruit will log into Vent and see "TF 77" "TF 79" etc., and think those channels are strictly for those TFs. The current set-up on Vent allows for a lot more flexibility.

The compromise is that we have all three....
Social 643
Operations 1 - 4
Task Force
When a new recruit comes into the fleet, thety will receive a welcome pack. This pack will explain how the vent system works.
The TF channles would only be used by their COs and XOs when they are having a TF meeting.

I misunderstood the compromise, then. I think that proposed set up would be good, as is the welcome package.

Part of me thinks it's a bit silly to have more vent channels than we have people in vent.... but, I really like this compromise. Keep the Lobby muted, have SB 643, 4 tacops, and then the TF and HQ channels.
I am a big fan of keeping things simple; but I know at least as far as my own TF goes, there is a lot of pride there.
Just to throw this out there - perhaps in the spirit of keeping things simple, instead of the TF channels, maybe have 'boardroom' channels for TF meetings based on the Strike Groups instead? So instead of having 12 TF channels you would have 3 Strike Group Channels; Alpha, Beta, and 1MEU.
I don't think we need vent to be the go to spot for finding out CO's etc; there is a giant Task Force Database button on the right hand side of the web page - but that's just me. I certainly wouldn't complain about having the TF channels re-instated. Just wanted to share my thoughts on it.

Me too.
And the great thing about it is that none of this is set in stone. We could try it, see if it works - and if it doesn't, we can try something else.
