I have spoken to many of you and Thursday evening at around 7:00 to 7:30 PM EST seems to be a good time to get everyone together and run some play test challenge matches.

All are welcome to attend. If you signed up in the loadout/ BO post please do your best to be there.

I have posted this event to the fleet calendar on a weekly basis... We will forgo next week in observance of Thanksgiving, but we will hopefully pick back up the next week.

Let pm me with any comments or concerns.

The first Thursday Night Slugfest was a success. Although we got off to a slow start, we had quite a few people attend, and from what I have heard a good time was had by all.

In short, what were the lessons learned:
- Always, Always stay together. In the first fight the blue team started off fighting as a unit, however by the time one or two kills had been scored, they seemed to loose cohesion and broke apart. After this they were much easier to isolate and destroy.

- I still believe that the fire at will tactic to be sound, however it will take a little more testing on a smaller scale (with numerically equal teams), to form a more organized group. I also believe it will take a full group of cruisers to be effective. During each fight there were only 2 to 3 cruisers using is tactic out of about 5 to 6 ships. This caused a huge gap in DPS, as all the beam fire was spread out over numerous targets. Although this did cause the opposition to spread out healing it was most times not enough to bring down their vessels (props to Mr Augurson on his first "healing" gig).

The second large scale engagement also showed the advantage of proper spacing. I had believed that the proper spacing between ships in this case should have been 4 to 5 km apart, and this was proved to be correct. At the beginning of combat red team had spaced themselves out at only 1 km between vessels (a line only about 5 km long). This turned out to be a terrible mistake as all the AoE science skill were able to hit all of us at once. Scramble sensor was particularly nasty as it caused all the fire at wills to hit our own ships (showing another flaw in the strategy). This is a flaw that I believe can be over come with spacing and a few science teams.

After the larger engagement was ended a few of us decided to play around abit with what I have dubbed the David and Goliath fight. Fun was had by all.

Thank you to all who participated, and please place your feedback here. I would like to know what can be done to ensure the continued interest and large turnout we enjoyed yesterday evening.

I promise to be better organized next week, so that the start time really is the go time.

Thanks again for the fun.
