re: State of the Guild in Rift

After our first full week as a guild I am pleased to report:

Current membership: 14

Current membership on the website: 3

Current 7th Fleet members: 4

Number of people who have left guild: 3 (A record setting 10 minutes in 1 case)

Number of guild quests completed: 2

Our members are for the most part level 15-20 and thus far we have not done much as a guild. My intent is to try and change that this week with our current Guild Quest. More effort will go into recruiting and trying to make active dungeon groups from our own guild.

Issues in game: Lack of a guild bank is proving quite the handicap to crafting and trading among guild members

I'll go ahead and add a quick report on the Oathkeepers to this, in case anyone is interested...

Oathkeepers in Rift has taken off beyond our expectations; we have 38 main characters on the in game roster, and have ranked the overall guild up to level 3. Open server recruitment has been closed, though friends and family of current members are still allowed in (this would include any of you who would be interested).

Highest level members are rapidly approaching 40, and we've swept through the first 3 dungeons on the guardian side with ease. Overall focus tends to be PvE, though some members are getting into the PvP side a bit.

So far, everyone we've picked up has been great, and with time, I hope to see the guild come together a bit more as folks get to know each other. I think that we've established ourselves well on the server, and should have the numbers come endgame to be able to complete some of the raids independently.

Once it makes a bit more sense, financially, for me to invest in another game, I will definitely look at picking up RIFT. Hopefully you folks won't be bored with it by then.

As for the Rift Guild on Alsbeth (Defiant) I have at least one potential member, a neighbor of mine, who may join shortly.

He is a former STO fleet member, a former USMC vet as well. Although, he dropped out of STO within the first few months after launch, that was due to work related issues.

Good to hear, we need to start working the idea of guild based dungeon runs soonest. The faster we can accomplish the guild quests the faster we can level the guild...and tbh the higher ranking guilds seem more attractive to potential members.

re: Guild Bank Work-Around

0
Whereas the game does not provide for one, we can create a defacto guild bank.

We know that every member has 6 character slots. Every headstart member begins with a 24 slot bag and a number of available bank slots, per character.

One or us, or all of us in guild officer positions create 2 - 3 alts for banking, and name them as such:

1. ButcherBank - Butcher Mats
2. MinerBank - Mining Mats
3. ForagerBank - Foraging Mats
4. CraftItems - Guild Items Awaiting Sale
5. GuildBank - Guild Cash Reserve / Dividends

The way the system works is for bankers 1-4, these characters will be equipt with resources bags (10 slots x 4) and stationed in teh Manufacturing area of Meridian.

Here they will then have access to a bank, mail box and even the crafting stations. Each will have storage capacity of between 80-100 storage slots.

Transfering Items:

1. No Cost Transfer: This is done by character-to-character trade
2. Mail Transfers will cost 3 GP+ per mail of 5 stacked or unstacked items.

Crafted Items for Sale:

The banker in charge of the crafted guild items will place items on the market. Collect funds from the sales, and then transfer them to the Guild Banker.

Guild Banker and Dividends:

The Guild Banker will hold onto the funds for the guild, and periodically issue out a dividend amount to the guild membership.

The amount the guild keeps on-hand, and distributes to the guild membership will be discussed later.

This would be something I'd do as a positively last resort just due to the sheer amount of pain in the butt it would become...for now I think I'll wait a bit and see if Rift does implement a guild bank or not...there is discussion of it happening among the devs according to one post

This weeks report as follows:

Current membership: 13

Current membership on website: 3

Current 7th Fleet members: 4

Number of people left guild: 1

Number of guild quests completed: 0

We have gained no new members and recruitment has become a problem. The issue seems to be centered on the fact that we are still a 1st level guild AND are not seen as well organized yet.

In game issues: Still suffering from lack of a guild bank, I am loathe to create alts just for banking given the fact that transferring items around that way is a bit complicated and there is still an ongoing security issue in game. Accounts being hacked is still apparently a high number judging from the forum posts and the fact that Trion has made several posts about it.

Report for week of 3/21

Current membership: 13

Current membership on website: 4

Current 7th Fleet members: 4

Number of people left guild: 3

New members: 3

Number of guild quests completed: 1

We have reached level 2 as a guild but are still suffering from recruitment issues. Also we seem to have very few members online at any given time so the new members may see us as an inactive guild. Hopefully things will improve with time.

State of the Guild:

From what I can see of our server, there are not many guilds on the Defiant side. There are one or two very large ones, and the rest are small 5 member guilds.

What we need to do in order to compete against the big boys, and lure the small guilds, is a niche.

Our presentation should become more RP:

* Let us take the Dragonslayer lore and flesh it out.

* Let us change the guild description and make it less, about us as players,
and more about what are guild is all about.

* Make up our own guild lore, setting it within the game's lore.

Our services should be presented:

* List the crafting specialties and levels that we have to offer

* Set up the banking system (using alts) that I described.

---I know this is tedious, but we should not wait on Trion releasing a guild banking system. If we offer a well organized and efficient guild banking system, that will bring in more recruits.

Biggest problem with your suggestion is the limited size of the recruiting message....I've tried several times to add more info but have been frustrated by the character number limitation on messages in game....feel free to try though.

I'm looking at adding bank alts now since coin lock seems to have stabilized the hacking accounts issue but it's going to be a mess...I don't want to give up either of my current toons and we would need at least 4 toons for banking

I was refering more to the guild description on the website, not the in-game chat message.

As for the banking alts, we can start with one each, and see how that works.

1. ButcherBank - Butcher Mats
2. MinerBank - Mining Mats
3. ForagerBank - Foraging Mats
4. Artifacts - Unused Artifacts (duplicates)
5. GuildBank - Guild Cash Reserve / Dividends

These have already been implemented. New guild description is up on the home page.
