/PRIORITY ROUTINE
STARDATE 2410.04.30
TO ALL HANDS
FR 88th CIC; HEADQUARTERS SEVENTH FLEET
SUBJ: Gorn Resistance
As is most of the activities of the 88th Counter Intelligence Corps, much of what we do is behind the scenes. A couple of months ago our agents picked up on some leads, deep within the Klingon Empire. Our agents were led to believe that a growing Gorn led resistance movement was in its early stages. This lead as proven to be factual.
As a representative of the 7th Fleet, I made contact with the leader of this (Gorn) resistance movement. Through our correspondence, the following has been established:
1. The Gorn Resistance movement exists and their fleet is growing.
2. They also have support from the 66th Fleet (UFP).
3. They welcome the addition of the 7th Fleet's support
Preparations for that support should begin immediately. The 7th Fleet, through the 88th CIC, has already estanblished contact with the likely KDF forces that we will jointly have to face.
Unlike our previous war with the Black Legion Knights, this conflcit will involve several fleets (on both sides).
1. Gorn Resistance (KDF - Ally)
2. 66th Fleet (UFP - Alt Fleet of Gorn resistance)
3. The "Lucky7th" Fleet
4. The Blood Dragons (KDF - Enemy / Many former BLK members).
Also, the Gorn Resistance / 66th Fleet is the operator of D20 Radio.com http://www.d20radio.com/forums/index.php?sid=175958d7155844d83a6cd37010c15771 and it is likely that the details of this event will be relayed over their air waves...Well, at least, I hope they will be.
This will be a great event for the 7th Fleet to participate in. Once again, we will show the STO community, that we are a premier fleet in the game!

Looks good. I think the presumption would be that we are allowed to use federation vessels in these engagements, but I understand this may not be the case... any chance you can clarify that for everyone?

I am told that in a private PVP instance, the Gorn and our Federation ships can be on the same side ("Blue"), but we can not form up in the same 5-man team.
If we or they want to buff / heal the other's ship, we would have to do that manually (click on the ship in space and then buff).
If this is the case, this would work out from an RP standing even better than I thought. The lack of teaming could be explained away as our ship's computers having difficulty in communicating with non-Federation ships, particularly ones that have probably been set up to prevent federation hacking.
Regardless of how we have to set this up, it will be an interesting event. The coordination of 3 or more fleets into one event will be a nice thing for us to pull off.

Cool, just let us know when, Blod. And keep in mind when trying to schedule with these guys what days we have other events setup.

If I read this correctly, the 66th, GR and 7th will be teamed up against the BD?

Well, the Gorn Resistance and the 66th Fleet are the same. As for the Blood Dragons, they are the first KDF to sign onto the event, but they may not be the only one.

Blod, this could shape up to be a really cool event. I would think that getting a couple of other Klingon Fleets to get involved wouldn't be too hard, there isn't exactly much to do over there.
Make sure to get some RP involved, as that has been the difference between just another PvP match and something that really grabs a hold of players. You've all got the good basis for a great backstory leading up to the event.
Please offer my services to the other Fleet leadership teams. I could very easily make a short promo video for the tournament, sort of a commercial, to get some interest and excitement going. Maybe we could set up a very small and brief 'scrimmage' match with a few people from the involved fleets so that I could get some footage and produce a vid, something similar to the short vid for our Heritage fleet...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qq4KbqPCyeQ
Just in case you need the link to show around as an example. It would be very simple to put in something together about the Gorn uprising and the fleet being dispatched to try and support it. And, if a scrimmage isn't possible to get footage, I could theoretically fake it; I just know that it's always very cool in the videos to know that you are in them when you see your own ship or character.
I'm rambling. Let me know what you think.

re: Update / Coorespondence with Participants
by Ezreq Blodvaerd on 05/02/11 8:37
This is an update, so all can see how this event is developing. Some of what I have passed along to the leaders of the Gorn Resistance and the Blood Dragons, also addresses Vice Admiral Shackelford's most recent post:
| Quote: | Hello Leader of the Gorn Resistance,
I have contacted the Fleet Admiral of the Blood Dragons (KDF) and he is game for this PVP event. My fleet and his had fought against each other before, and we had a great time doing it.
The Vice Admiral of my fleet is asking that we develope a "backstory" for this conflict, to add an RP element to the PVP event. As of this point I'm assuming we have the following participants:
1. Gorn Resistance (KDF) / 66th Fleet (UFP)
2. "Lucky 7th" Fleet (UFP)
3. Blood Dragons (KDF)
So the way the matches would go is: 5 Gorn + 5 UFP vs. 10 KDF
We should have no shortage of either side, between our three fleets and their alt fleets. We will also chronical the events using screen shots; FRAPS Video capture; as well as other media possibilities.
I'm wondering if you or one of your members has begun to use the UGC to develope the evolution of the Gorn Resistance?
This might be a good way to involve more aspects of the game, into our event.
I will pass this PM along to the leaders of the Blood Dragons and the "Lucky 7th" so that they may comment further, as this event developes.

As you can all see, we are now in what I would call "Three Party Talks" as far as putting this thing together. If all goes as best as it can, I can see this event developing into:
A RP-PVP event that includes the coordination of at least three fleets, that utilizes STO's private PVP queue system for the combat portions and the Foundry System for the RP-PVE Background content.
The "Lucky 7th" Fleet can contribute our excellent visuals (screen shots and video support); The 66th Fleet can support the event through their D20 Radio station; and the Blood Dragons are supplying the KDF forces needed for the event.
After looking at our Tactical Section, it appears that Thursday nights (3 x per month) would be a viable day for these events. I would like to see this Project: "Enemy of my Enemy" run for 2 months (Mid May - Early July). But, this of course would be discussed further.
