HQ, 7th Fleet, United Federation of Planets
Starbase Solrac Yatug, UFP

(U) 7th Fleet (WARNO) Operation Crystal Cracker

(U) References:

a. (TOP SECRET) VOCO, Fleet Admiral, Commander, 7th Fleet. (FOUO)

(U) Time Zone Used Throughout the WARNO: ROMEO (GMT -5)

1. (TOP SECRET) Situation. The Crystalline Entity (often referred to as CE) is a cosmozoan that can be found in the Teneebia Sector close to the Demil System in a fleet action. This entity has destroyed countless worlds and taken millions of lives throughout the galaxy. All efforts at communicating have failed. All efforts with diplomatic actions have failed.

2. (TOP SECRET) Mission. 7th Fleet will seek and destroy the Crystalline Entity located in the Teneeebia Sector on 26-27 October 2412 at 2030hrs EST to rid the galaxy of a mortal enemy and bring peace to the Teneebia Sector of Federation space.

3. (TOP SECRET) Execution.

a. (SECRET//NOFORN) Commander’s Intent. 7th Fleet will form as a cohesive unit and leverage all available firepower to destroy the Crystalline Entity while maintaining combat effectiveness and preventing loss of 7th Fleet assets and members.

b. (TOP SECRET) Concept of Operations. The CE is one of the most dangerous enemies 7th Fleet has encountered since the fleet was founded. We have faced this mortal enemy on several occasions, with few victories to show for it. The overall success of this operation will be affected by careful planning, teamwork, communication and ship preparation.

There are very rare instances where leadership within the 7th has ever dictated ship design, loadout, weapon usage etc. We all believe in having a friendly open fleet where each member can choose the ship they want with the loadout and skills they so desire. However, the CE Fleet Action is one of those exceptions. One small mistake from a fleet member can jeopardize the mission and destroy the entire fleet. Therefore, steps must be taken to ensure success of the overall mission.

Over the next few weeks, we will be building and refining a new combat strategy for the CE. There are a few ground rules that need to be established that will support this strategy and this WARNO provides those in detail. This will give you ample time to make corrections and additions to your ships that will ensure overall success of the operation.

First, lets go over the absolute, non-negotiable adherences for this specific mission:

(1) (U) Voice (Ventrillo) communication is absolutely Mandatory. (It is acceptable to “listen” only if you do not have a microphone). There will be no waivers granted for this.

(2) (U) Being present and in ventrillo for the mission briefing is Mandatory. The mission briefing will take place at 2030hrs EST each night. The briefing will cover an overall strategy and tactics for each type of ship (tactical, engineer, science).

(3) (U) The use of fighters, pets, support craft, multi-vector ship sections, saucer sections, etc. of any type, is Prohibited.

(4) (U) The use of destructible objects are Prohibited. Destructible objects include, but are not limited to: mines, high yield plasma torpedoes, tricolbalt devices/torpedoes, transphasic cluster torpedoes, boarding parties, photonic fleets, fleet support ships. This list is not all inclusive. For specific questions on destructible objects, direct them to the 7th Fleet Operations Chief or 7th Fleet Chief of Staff.

(5) (U) The minimum level for the mission is 40. That is the minimum level required by the Fleet Action per Star Trek Online.

c. (U) Tasks to Staff.

(1) (U) Communication Officer. Create or reuse an event graphic advertising the fleet event and post to the 7th Fleet website NLT 19 October 2012. Award attending fleet members FA-1115-CE.

(2) (U) Fleet Financial Officer. Provide fleet funds for outfitting ships and skills necessary as deemed appropriate. Fleet member may request funds from the FFO to help outfit ships for the operation.

(3) (U) Public Affairs. Gain support from allied fleets, if possible.

(4) (U) Chief Engineer. Assist fleet members in gaining efficiency and rectifying computer issues prior to the operation. The CE Fleet Action is very strenuous on the system video cards with the thousands of crystal shards flying through space.

(5) (U) Chief of Operations.

(a) (U) Form the plan of action and strategy for the overall mission.

(b) (U) Conduct the mission briefing each night at 2030hrs EST.

(c) (U) Coordinate and collaborate with fleet members to refine the strategy. Capitalize on fleet experience and use that knowledge for overall success of the operation.

(d) (U) Publish the warning order (WARNO) and operations order (OPORD) prior to the event to give fleet members the time needed to conduct research, adjust ship configurations and beta test those configurations in live combat.

(e) (U) Conduct the fleet AAR for future CE events to catalog knowledge learned for future events.

d. (U) Tasks to Subordinate Units.

(1) (U) Fleet Forces.

(a) (U) Conduct thorough background information gathering and emerse yourself in all you can about the Crystalline Entity. Knowledge is power! Spend time researching YouTube videos of CE combat and gain a firm understanding of how the enemy works. The CE has changed a great deal since its inception. Many changes have been made over the past updates to the game. Therefore, veterans of the fleet should also spend time to learn of the new challenges to the Crystalline Entity.

(b) (U) Reconfigure fleet ships to meet the combat needs of fighting the Crystalline Entity. Request fleet resources from the Fleet Financial Officer if needed.

e. (U) Coordinating Instructions.

(1) (U) All fleet members should respond, in-game, to the Fleet Event for the Crystalline Entity. This will give fleet leadership a good idea of the numbers of fleet members to expect and ascertain if the mission is possible. Fleet members should respond to the in-game event listing ASAP, but NLT 23 October 2012.

(2) (U) All fleet members should read the articles at the following websites and watch, at a minimum, the following video. These articles and videos will give you a firm foundation on what is expected and will support the overall strategy of defeating the Crystalline Entity.

(U) http://www.stowiki.org/Crystalline_Entity

(U) http://www.stowiki.org/Mission:_Crystalline_Catastrophe/Walkthrough#Healing

(U) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cMoikD_3yg

4. (U) Sustainment. Refer all requests for fleet resources to the Fleet Financial Officer.

5. (U) Command and Signal.

a. (U) Command. Fleet Admiral, 7th Fleet will be located onboard the U.S.S. Ticonderoga. Deputy Commander, 7th Fleet, will be located onboard the U.S.S. Midway.

b. (U) Control. All controlled fires will be coordinated through voice communication.

c. (U) Signal.

(1). (U) All questions should be directed to the Fleet Operations Officer via voice communications or message on the Fleet website.

I shamelessly copied this directly from the 12th fleets writeup. It helped me understand what was going on in the video

The important factors in the smashing victory were as follows:
(1) we had 15 ships concentrating DPS solely on the CE;
(2) in addition to the 15 DPS ships, we had 5 ships, equipped with 2-3 repulsors each, relay on firing tractor beam repulsors during Stage III of the CE's hit points to keep the fragments away from the DPS teams;
(3) we banned all targetable weapons/abilities (e.g., mines, tricobalt devices/torpedoes, boarding parties, photonic fleet, fleet support, scorpion fighters, etc.); and
(4) we tried to keep everyone in a small group at a distance of 7-9km from the CE. Having a few ships using Gravity Well on fragments in Stage I and Stage II was very helpful; as was banning all mass kill/area of effect weapons in Stage III. Having several ships in the expedition come equipped with one copy of Tractor Beam Repulsor 1 (other than the 5 equipped with 2 repulsors each) was also helpful.

I see repulsors are an almost MUST have item. Im new so I for one will setup and link my ship layout for performance input on monday 10-08

My ship and the Fleet Admiral's carry enough DPS for 5 ships.

On that note, I was goin to try to get my final battle E first, but for this event I'm opening up my complete services to anyone in an escort. I will try to make a post with full disclosure.

Also I can setup your ship for you along with keybinds. It only requires 1 respec token, and around 10-14 million EC (depending on what u need for weapons and consoles). To do this also requires me to be on vent with you to access account.

Remember this applies to only escorts. Defiant, Akira, MVAM, and Patrol. Just catch me in vent, in game chat, or site PM.

I am exploring the strategy of using tractor beam repulsars as a primary tactic for combating the CE. I would like to know if any of the Sci characters would be willing to volunteer and retrain bridge officers in Tractor Beam Repulse I, II & III.

TBR I(LT skill) and II(LtCDR skill) can be trained via the bridge officer trainer.

TBR III(CDR skill) can be trained via non-common bridge officers found on the exchange. I bought one today for 500 credits.

*Note: since TBR can be used as an LT skill, tac and eng can also train into as well, based upon the ship ofcourse, but Sci ships will carry most of the load.

Please respond in this thread if you are interested.

I set my Engineer Admiral JT Kerry up with TBR II (through a CDR Science Officer slot) - He's using a Science variant of the USS Astoria. He also has Grav Well II or III.
If I noticed, on that video, the TBR ships were in front, repelling the shards, while fire was concentrated completely on the Entity. Let me know if I should try ti find TBR III in the Exchange. The Science/ Engineers that setup this way may need some assistance respecing to meet the needs of this. I know I'm going to be asking for some assistance on this or at least researching it further on my own.
Also, anyone doing this should consider getting the Auxillery Power Devices with their setup, preferred device for an event like this would be the Aux/Shield Team Device which enhances everyone. in their 5 man segment of the event.

Gents...a few key topics to discuss for this weekend...

*************************Tractor Beam Repulsors*******************
I need to know those that would be willing to volunteer to take on Tractor Beam repulsors II and III for this weekend?

The overall plan is to have 20 ships total in the event:

15 DPS, each carrying tractor beam repulsors I (a LT Science slot)
and
5 science/engineering ships with 2 or more repulsors. If you are flying a science or engineer and would like to volunteer, please respond to this thread.

There is no need to re-skill into into Graviton Generators or anything like that. Please don't waste your re-spec tokens

*******************************Weapons************************
Energy:
Bring any weapon type of your choice. Disruptors, Antiproton and Plasma have the greatest advantage. The others are good, however, their procs of attacking shields and subsystems are useless against the CE.

Kinetic:
Photon torpedoes, Quantum torpedoes and Hargh'peng are highly recommended. ALL others are PROHIBITED. ALL forms of mines are PROHIBITED.

********************************Skills**************************

Tactical:
Beam Array Overload, Tactical Team, Attack Patterns, Cannon Rapid Fire, Torp High Yield are all highly recommended.

Torpedo Spread, Beam Fire at Will, Cannon Scatter Volley, and Dispersal Patterns are ALL PROHIBITED.

Target subsystems are all useless against the CE.

Engineer:
Emergency power to weapons is great! Extend shields, science team, emergency power to shields, directed energy modulation, reverse shield polarity are all useless against the CE.

Boarding Party and Eject Warp Plasma are PROHIBITED.

Science:
Tractor Beam Repulsors and Gravity well are very useful.
***NOTE: Gravity well will only be allowed for Phase I and Phase II of the operation.***

Tyken's Rift, Photonic Fleet, Scramble Sensors and Charged Particle Burst are PROHIBITED.

Any and all shield heals are useless against the CE. Hull heals are recommended.

**************************Destructible Objects*********************

The following is a list of destructible objects PROHIBITED from this Fleet Action:

mines, high yield plasma torpedoes, tricolbalt devices/torpedoes, transphasic cluster torpedoes, boarding parties, Photonic Fleets, Fleet Support Ships, stalker fighters, scorpion fighters, support craft, multi-vector sections, saucer sections, combat and non-combat pets.

****************************************************************

There is a good chance I left something out, so PLEASE ask any and all questions. Now is the time to ask so we can get the details flushed out.
