Is that the new JJ Abrams Trek movie or another video game? (Is often confuzzled by things like this)

It's the new movie. There was talk that it was based on the TOS 1st season episode "space Seed," but it looks as though JJ took some liberties, so it is nothing like the original.

Though I know the basic synopsis of "Space Seed," I've never seen the episode. I do recall reading a novel that covered Khan's life from a child through his involvement in the Eugenics wars. It may be that facet of his life the scriptwriter is drawing from. This, of course, presumes that Khan is the antagonist for the movie.

"an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization" = not Khan.

Possible villians:

Gary Mitchell (Where No Man Has Gone Before): This seems to be the general concensus of the internet, if that means jack shit. He generally fits the bill of the synopsis.

Finnegan (Shore Leave): Kind of a long shot, imho, but a possibility. This choice speaks to the 'personal score to settle,' since they were rivals at the academy.

Garth of Izar (Whom Gods Destroy): This is from an episode I hardly remember, so it would be an interesting choice. He's insane, so there's that.

Section 31: Another longshot - I fail to see how destroying the fleet would benefit or protect the UFP. They would make good villians, but their evil stems from the notion that the end justifies the means. I don't think that in this case it makes a lot of sense, but it's a possibility.

Charlie Evans (Charlie X): Another longshot - it's a stretch to say he's from 'within the organization.'

And finally, it could be - something we've never seen before. Abram's reboot allows him a great deal of freedom. While the universe is inhabited by the same people - allowing him to pull from lore - he doesn't necessarily have to. He could generate a brand new villian - or, even take someone from TOS lore who was a good officer and twist them into something evil (say, for example, Commodore Wesley from 'The Ultimate Computer').

That article makes a very good argument for Khan, plus it would follow TOS movie line if abrahms wants it like that ... though personally... I'm waiting for a movie with the planet killers haven't seen a lot of them in the Trek universe

Again, Khan is not "from within the organization."

Only if you ignore the fact that khan isn't a starfleet officer. Otherwise, sure, it's a great argument.

But this isn't the "Prime" timeline. Who's to say that the Botany Bay wasn't found by a different ship and instead of trying to take over the ship the augments accepted it and were brought into Starfleet, and until some incident involving the Enterprise did Khan have any tendencies to violence resulting in the movie? .... all I was saying was it was a good idea and was just speculation on the movie

Well, that would be weird and disappointing. There's almost no way he could remake wrath of khan and have it NOT be disappointing.
