Sirs,
Just picking the brains of our senior members as to some of the events and things happening this month on STO. We have new ships to choose from, a sale on most other ships, and Risa to boot. Sort of feel like I'm at a buffet (Golden Corral) and don't know where to start. You all have been through several cycles of Cryptic's sales and specials. In my limited time here, I seem to recall some good opportunities around the end of the year.
So, if you had some extra Zen to throw around, what ships would you buy, or which ships not to buy. In my limited review of ships, it is not so much the ship, but the console that comes with the ship. Then there is the dilemma of buying a C-store ship or forking over the Zen for Ship Modes and buying the fleet version. And this goes for both sides. So what I'm asking is in a perfect world, and you had a few thousand Zen to spend, where would you spend it, or not?
Thanks.
Respectfully submitted,
CDR Smaug & Thu'fir

I've never regretted buying the Regent or Akira (Armitage). Especially the Defiant if you don't have it. Those are my 3 favorite ships by far. The Excelsior is also a great ship but just a tad outdated for Immersion effect. Honestly you can't go wrong with anything it just depends on your play style and what you like best.
If you want the fleet version of any go ahead and buy the C-Store one to get the console and just pick up 1 fleet module. Its just a tad extra but it will save you the pain if for whatever reason down the road you want the console.
PS: Akira console is just really pretty to watch up to 90 photons launch.

I like the Vesta Pack, giving you all the gadgets from all three ships. This gives you the Quantum Focused shield, which allows you to deflect attacks while repairing damage (defensive console). You also get the advantage of having a carrier class ship. My main toon, Engineering, runs this. It's fast with a decent turn rate, but it is a Science class ship and is more for support than attack.
The vessels Huck mentioned are excellent attack vessels.
When shopping through the ships, it is a good thing to pay attention to the Consoles. Look for those that are transferable between ship classes, if the console is only good for that, class and you move to another ship, those console stay with the previous ship and can't enhance your new ship.
Here's a list of Consoles and devices, and where they come from: (STO Wiki)

Note: If you scroll down you'll see a comprehensive list.
Good luck.

Thank you Sirs for your input. I have since "bookmarked" the Console page and will keep for future reference.
Capt Huckabee, I was 90% almost there with your recommendation. However, now having sampled all three major players in the game, at this point in time, I intend to focus my resources/time/Zen on my Romulan toons (one for each side). Still want to get both my "high-end" Federation and KDF ships up to fleet standards, it's just finding the time. Risa has especially become a time-sink for me.
Funny, it took about six months of playing to realize what type of STO player I wanted to be. The LoR showed up just at the right time and I haven't looked back, except for Fleet events.
Thank you again for your help and wisdom.
