Tempest Class

Has anyone got this ship?  If so I'd like your thoughts on it.  Been thinking about picking it up since I really like the looks of it, but I've never really messed with the Patrol escorts. Looking to play around with a newer and shinier hull, kinda tired of looking at my TNG ones and this is this first Cryptic design that I can't find something I really hate on it like the Avenger's neck, Regent's glowy bulb, etc.

I agree that it's a damn good looking ship. I really like the BOFF layout as well, but I'm not so sure on the whole rear cannon thing they've got going on...I'll probably pick one up eventually...5 Fleet modules though...

I'm just going to hold off on getting it.  My Defiant does just fine at the moment for an escort.  Thx for the responses.....even you JT

Oh and it's actually a Zen store ship Davis, so getting the fleet would only cost 1 module after getting it (still same price as 5 though ultimately).  If you just went straight Fleet, you won't get the skin or console of the Tempest.

Hey, hey, hey!  The Pontiac Tempest was a great battle cruiser for its time. 

 

Although, the new model looks pretty cool too.  The C-Store Tempest Patrol Escort Refit has two weapons: the Nadion Saturation Bomb (carpet bombing in space, maybe more like napalm) and the (Dual Phaser Canon) Tail Gun.  " The Aft-Firing Tempest Tail Gun can be modified by Scatter Volley and higher rank Rapid Fire bridge officer abilities", which sounds like it can do some heavy damage as you pass with a 90 degree arc.

I know it's a zen ship, I just don't need the console and don't buy zen. I'll have to pick up the 5 fleet modules from the exchange to get one.

The Fleet version only has the tail gun.  I think the Fleet version is a draw with the Fleet Tactical Escort Retrofit (Defiant Class).  Here's the side by side:

2500Z=about 387,500 dilithium @ 155-d to 1 Zen. Or 5 months of waiting for a Life Member.

The two cars I regret loosing most is the Tempest and the 1966 Coupe de Ville.  The Cadillac was a beast.  I could sit comfortable on the front passenger floor and not impinge on the comfort of anyone in the back seat.  And, you kind of float over potholes.

I did pick this up from the C-Store and have enjoyed playing it.  I could take or leave the aft firing cannon as, obviously, I tend to keep my bow on the enemy to maintain cannon fire.  So far, it's been a fun, high damage escort to play.  It's on par with the Defiant but I prefer the look of the Tempest.  So, if you just want something new and shiny go for it!  If you're looking for something with better performance, it's probably not worth it.

thanks Thomas.  Might just stay in the 'ol girl then.  I've always fell back on the Defiant, so I'll just save my money.  $25 ain't worth a visual upgrade with the amount of time I been playing.
