is anyone following the changes to crafted/dropped boff skill manuals? which ones are going to be hard to get after the revamp so we can craft those now and save up...i havent read that previously crafted manuals will be voided, does anyone know this either? there is so much info it hurts my head reading that long ;p

Boff powers are not getting a revamp, at least not directly, so I'm not sure what your are referencing. The captain's skill tree is what is changing, and from what we know it'll be "more" like the specialization trees so you won't be putting points into specific skills, but rather selecting which skills you want. The training manuals and how the function should not be impacted. Now the powers themselves, insofar as what "skill" effects them, will be different. An example of this would be how exotic damage scales with PartGen. In the new system (again this is an example and I don't know if there will be a PArtGen skill or not), PartGen will likely be replaced with a new skill that effects that boosts exotic damage. instead of putting a certain number of points into that "skill" you will simply get a flat bonus for selecting/unlocking that skill. But the truth is we know squat about how all of this will work once it goes live. From the blog post, they will be looking for feedback from the the people testing it on the Tribble Server, so it will likely change on a daily/weekly basis, and by the time it gets to us on holodeck, it may look significantly different from what is on Tribble now.

After looking at your original comment I get the feeling I may have misunderstood your question. So to answer what I think you're asking, all I can day is we don't know. If I had to guess, I would say that either it will stay unlocked, or by selecting a certain skill will simply allow you to craft the corresponding manual.

right, putting X points into X tree, allows you to craft, for example, EPtW3, etc...so the ability to craft these manuals is now changing. some are being removed. some are being added that were not available before. as it is now, you either get to a certain level in a skill category and can craft manuals (not so different) AND boff candidates can be turned into manuals you can not craft(ex: viral something 3 goes for double digits millions on the exchange). with this changing, my question is: which manuals are going to be hard to acquire in the future, so we can make them now. this data is available now (subject to change of course).
Also, will they be sellable/tradeable like they are now (crafted and dropped(dismissing boffs) are sellable/tradeable now). there will be a new manual store(pretty much free) at major centers, but like it is now, not all will be available there. i will be doing more research, but figured id ask you guys as well.
I also usually just dismiss all candidates i dont want, but am saving them now or creating manuals.
I also am crafting all the level 3 manuals i can.
I would also assume the manuals that require a high level of points to make are going to be in demand

I hadn't considered any of this before reading this thread, but now I think the suggestion to craft a bunch of the level 3 manuals is a wise move - both for selling on the exchange and donating to the fleet bank.
Good call on pointing this out Nimmoth.
