re: Captain's Log - USS STORMES

Continuing to slug it out in the Eta Eridani and surrounding sectors. Klingons are tough cookies and not enough organization in combat encounters is killing our effectiveness. The crew is weary at our setbacks but I know we will pull through.
I am considering re-tooling our console layouts ... AGAIN ... as we keep looking for something, anything to give us an edge.
I recently gave field promotions to my Chief Engineer and Chief Tactical Officer. Their performance has been stellar. I need to work on getting them additional training as soon as possible. It's not going to get any easier out here.
Our new MK IV Dual Phaser Cannons were installed 2409.0222. Despite their limited firing arc, they pack quite a punch. In conjunction with our MK IV photons and the fine skills of our CTO, I am confident we can take on anyone 1v1. But it's not a 'fair' galaxy out there, and 1v1 is sometimes hard to come by.
I'm going to recommend to Admiral Turner that we schedule some TF operations soon. STORMES is an escort and not as good of a "lone wolf."

{Supplemental}
Ok, so I woke up early to get some things done before my day of shuttling around Special Envoys to diplomatic disasters.
I go to use the Holodeck. I didn’t get to use the Holodeck yesterday because XO had it blocked out. I learned long ago that XO gets her way more often than not. Just saying "That's an order" just seems to make it worse. Anyway ...
What? What’s that I see?
“Holodeck down until 0800.”
So I say no biggie. I’ll just log onto the Fleet Intranet and file my logs, etc.
What? What’s that I see?
“Fleet Intranet down until 0700.”
Needless to say by then I’ll probably have around 5 minutes to file this log and get to the daily grind. Doubt I’ll get to the Holodeck at all this morning.
Somehow I just don’t think today will be my day.

STORMES remains deployed in and around the Sirius Sector. We have completed several missions already.
1. Patrol Vulcan Sector systems.
2. Patrol Orion Sector systems.
3. Rescue SS Azura.
4. Deliver scientific samples to Memory Alpha.
With the war effort draining our resources, STORMES has been fortunate to scrounge up upgrades to our systems after defeating our enemies. We've gotten pretty good at wiring Klingon consoles into our own.
Ran into some Romulans yesterday. Not quite the pushover the Klingons have proved to be thus far. They could be formidable opponents.
Our subspace feed back to HQ is proving to be our biggest adversary. It seems to be down more than up. My IT Chief swears it's not his fault.
STORMES is performing well and seems to get better in every encounter. I am quite pleased.
[2409.0127]
I am on leave.
I miss my ship.
[2409.0125]
Our Shakedown has been an outstanding experience. I've learned huge amounts about the capabilities of STORMES and how to manage time and personnel to the greatest benefit.
I look forward to our return tomorrow. My wife and I will be celebrating our wedding anniversary. I have and will miss so many occasions that it makes this opportunity all that more special. I don't think I've ever looked as foward to sounding the Liberty call as I do right now!
My most recent promotion was an unexpected surprise. The bump in pay was pretty nice too. I hope to continue to prove my usefulness to the Fleet.
[2409.0119]
The crew continues to learn their jobs well. Our patrolling missions with members of TF-72 and other elements of the 7th Fleet have thus far been great successes. We've had some issues communicating with Starfleet of late but I am assured by my IT Chief that the problem is not on our end.
We received an upgrade to our shield generators and an updated tactical console. I look forward to putting them into action as soon as possible.
Personnel issues continue with my XO and new Ship's Counselor. I am working through them as best I can.
[2409.0118]
To be placed on STORMES Intranet.

re: AFTER ACTION REPORT DS-AAR5687423-4524
I am forwarding a copy of my letter to JAG. I hope this will
settle the issue, or at least buy us some time, Now, can you send me that damn report - soon!
FiGiN, this isn't the first time we have undertaken such a mission. Those men new the risks and would do it all over again given the chance. Our enemy plays for keeps and we must remain . . Versatile & Vigilant
Sleep Fast, Our TF leaves again soon.

TO: JAG OFFICE E3
RE: AFTER ACTION REPORT DS-AAR5687423-4524
I have read Commander FiGiN's AAR and discussed the
issue with those listed on the witness list attachment B4a.
I have a clear understanding of all that transpired aboard
the USS Stormes that fateful day, the orders that Commander
FiGiN issued were sound and of good judgement.
I see no reason to look any further into this incident.
Let us bury our fallen heros with Honor.
Sincerely,
Deputy Fleet Commander Angus T Turner
