After Action Report: Crystalline Entity
The fleet action for Crystalline Entity, Friday was astounding we did great with three quick wins
the tactics that everyone posted on the site was implemented perfectly in the game everyone did their part to help take down the CE. We had cruisers kite shards, escorts did stayed on the CE and science ships did their part in hull and shield repair. The fleet established positions above and below the poles of the CE to maximizes phaser shots to the CE. Scramble sensors worked great on the Shard fragments as well. The things we know did not work, Ramming speed did not seem to work at all and Mines are BAAADDD!. While other players used mines no 7th fleet member did , I did notice some none 7th using bording party which I don't think it did anything at all but others were using Tykins Rift and gravity well I am not sure how these worked out I did not have the time to check the health of the CE while these attacks took place. Saterday did not go as well as planed, while we suceeded once in destorying the CE once the second time took over an hour and half with no joy. Sunday we implemented our tactics perfectly it was a thing of beauty all ships were in teams orders were called out and followed to the letter the 7th preformed admirably however once again we had the random factor of none fleet players heavly effect the outcome of Sunday night's fleet action. We rethought our statagie and seemed to work for a moment but then we had players break the line and charge in or shoot crystalline shards or break up the larger shards which then broke into the smaller healing shards which made it back to the CE. Two things one, Commander Figin and LT. One of none should get credit for the teaming idea with a science ship included in each team. Two Captain Keogh did the research on the soft and hard cap for fleet actions. I'll turn this post over to Commander Hau.

I wholeheartedly agree, we did great regardless of the outcome, it was great team and tactic building as well. I cant say i have many complaints as we all did a great job, the chatter was concise and proper and saved quite a few of us calling out some shards someone might not have seen. the execution of orders quick and efficient. as well as the teamwork was spot on and i'm pretty sure nobody died from a teammate letting em down just bad luck with stray shards. All in all i'd say we did fantastic, and of course there's always room for improvement but nothing major of course.

I had the pleasure of being the senior officer present for Sunday night. With Captain Scott and Commander Hau in tactical command, things went well for the 7th. Comms were short and to the point. Fleetmates looked after not only each other, but the random players in the instance. It was only due to the actions of the non-7th players that we didn't win, as our teamwork and strategy was right on. BZ to all hands!

I was only present for the Friday Night Fleet action, and I was greatly impressed (as I posted in another thread). The key was having close to 17 of 20 7th Fleet members in the instance.
Next step is to petition Cryptic to allow for teamed instancing on a fleet level (20 member teams). Perhaps this is in place for their "raidisodes", but if it is not, we should push for it.
I'm not sure the terminology we need to use in our request. 20 man Raid Teams; or the ability to create private rooms for Fleet Actions including CE and any other similar Boss battle fleet actions.

re: After Action Report: Crystalline Entity
Friday night I tried many rogue tactics, such as hiding behind asteroids, allowing the shards that attacked me to break up on the rocks and not me, I tried stationary fire for long periods of time. But at the end of the day.
Getting your ship in position behind objects just right took too much time.
Sitting still worked well, sometimes. All in all the tactics used were the best.
I think the boarding parties were accidents or problem crew members.
I was able to join Friday and Saturdays Missions. We need a little more work on our team set up prior to entering the instance, but next to that, we rule.

I was only able to participate in Friday nights fleet action and like Captain Scott stated the fleet performed admirably. I believe I stayed around for 3 encounters and each time coordination from the CO when without a hitch.
I was briefed on the fleet actions from Saturday and Sunday and it sounded as though the coordination was not there but that could have been because of the non-fleet vessels also taking part the action.
I agree with Admiral Turner and that the tactics need to be determined prior to the engagement.
I look forward to future fleet actions and hope that we continue to function as one cohesive fleet.

I want to go with what Admiral Turner talked about with teams I think that needs to be standerd practice from now on. IT does two things. One makes it easer to locate folks in your team. Two teams made it simpler to get hull repairs and shield buffs up on those that need it quickly. I feel that with the random factor from players that were just there to do just do their mission was hurting the 7th. At one point we had a guy laying mines which was making the encounter that much harder due to the fact that some shardes would break into smaller ones and go back and heal the CE. We had folks just running wildly in to shardes and dieing . IF we could have taken this random element out I belive we would have had a a fridaynight all three nights.

I had a blast on Saturday night, and enjoyed the collaboration of fleet members during both CE instances we fought in. The CE is such a tough instance to do successfully, because any random participant can so easily screw things up.
All I know is - the USS El Monte should permanently be on the 7th Fleet's "Shard Recipient" list.

I was able to make Friday night, and things definitely went very smooth. If anyone is interested, I do have some video of it.
My apologies for not making Saturday or Sunday night. Saturday was my stepdaughters 18th birthday and Sunday I ended up with the stomach flu or something; not fun.

That would be a good question for the command staff , I am not familiar with the AAR but I am welling to learn and use them for Fleet debreffings. I would like to give a quick shout out to Mr. Brenner for herding the shards around for us .
