RE: First Contact with Enemy Targets
Officers of the "Lucky 7th" Fleet, we are at war. Last nights during our Liberty Call, we came into contact with a small group of Klingons belonging to the House of the Black Legion Nights.
Lead by their leader, LtGen Sa'Chang, hostilities soon broke out on Drozana station (bar brawl). In accordance with Star Fleet law and previous treaties not breached by our current war with the Klingon Empire, both fleets moved our dispute to a deserted facility.
As all can see, the "Lucky 7th" performed in typical "Outstanding" fashion. Our numerical advantage and tactics were clearly more than a match for the forces of the BLK.
The BLK transported to their ships and were perhaps preparing for an assualt on Federation facilities. The 7th Fleet quickly responded, and our first space engagement errupted.
This was a hard fought battle, and it was extremely close, too close to call really, but this was not reflected in the taunting hails of some of the BLK captains. It may have been different if the USS LAELAPS was not experiencing a warp core leak, which left her derelict for the first 2/3rds of the battle.
Not deterred by their slight victory, the 7th fleet persued the BLK to a nearby salvage yard:
Although we suffered some losses, at no point did the BLK have greater control of the Federation facilities. The BLK then departed and led our chase to a final battleground for the above listed stardate:
Unfortunatley, I had to be beamed to sickbay during this battle, our side's only casualty....but it took three of them to take one of us down!!
Summary:
Our first night's battles against this highly skilled foe went better than expected. The BLK fought with honor and vowed to assemble a greater force against us in the not so distant future. This threat we must take seriously, and I suggest that the fleet remain at "Yellow Alert" readiness.
A job well done 7th Fleet!!

Sir, outstanding report on the battle that took place last night. USS MarDet and crew are standing by. It was outstanding to see many of my fleet members on station ready to conduct battle. As the battle contuine, I hope that our strength grow to face our enemy on the battle field. The Black Knight was not ready for the strenght that 7th Fleet displayed last night. We must contuine to overwhelm the Klingon with our ability to muster our forces at a moment notice.
The Marine Division was represented by MajGen Talbot and Major Augerson, the Commanding General encourage more Marines to get into the fight.

What Mr. Augerson says here is very true. I would definitely like to encourage more Marines to get involved with this, RL permitting of course.

The two engagements I was able to participate in were fantastic. I'd love to do some more, but personal requirements and a brand-new job are probably going to take precedence this weekend and the near future.

The 7th hurled the gauntlet thrown at us back into the agressor's face and we were victorious! But the war is not over with just one fight. Be vigilant, be prepared, and as the Army Rangers like to say; "Don't forget Nuthin' !" Hope to see you gentlemen at Liberty Call this evening.

I have sent out a PM to all fleet commanders informing them of the next event. The commanders of each task force should be filtering that information to their fleet members, this is how a chain-of-command works. I will however break protocol and announce it here....
Next attack is at Drozana Station tomorrow night Wednesday, 8:30 PM EST. The BLK has already informed me that they intend to bring mercenaries and perhaps additional Klingon Fleets.
Let us show them what the 7th Fleet can muster!

re: In Defense of this War

Suddenly it appears this "War" that has been initiated has brought about some unexpected side effects. To clarify some points, I will lay out the rationale for it. Please feel free to comment on it, constructive view points will be most welcome.
1. There was a drop off in fleet activity about two weeks ago, and I felt a war with a real Klingon Fleet would spark more interest than everyione just running their weekend Weekly Episodes. So I pitched the idea of starting a war with a real Klingon Fleet to the Fleet Admiralty. It was approved by Fleet admiral Fortin, and I ran with it.
2. Why the secrecy? Again, to spark interest, I decided to roleplay this war. using the 88th Counter Intelligence BN as the gatherer of intel as it filtered in. The first event was set up between myself and the commanding officer of the BLK Klingon Fleet. I sent a PM to all command staff informing them of the Yellow Alert status, and the individual Task Forces began to acknowledge the order.
3. The first event went very well. All participants, both us and them, enjoyed the experience.
My comment that our numbers were good but not stellar was based on the notion that we had about 8 - 10 participants, when our typical muster call for promotion ceremonies would average about 14 or more.
4. Still holding to the idea of RPing the war, I let the next round be choosen by the Klingon Fleet commander. He told me on Sunday that Wednesday Night would be good for him.
Again, I sent out a PM to Commanders, but I missed Mr. Mercer and I apologize for that oversight.
5. The complaint about this war was that the general membership did not have the opportunity to discuss or vote on this issue. I can respect that concern but if the issue was voted on and the event scheduled, it would have been no different than having our own Private PVP War Games. No element of surpirse, no intrigue, no sense of danger, no sesne of real accomplishment.
6. How would this war support our various divisions of the 7th Fleet?
First, most obviously, our fleet would hone its skills for PVP.
Second, our Kinkade Research Project, could continue to produce load outs for ships and offer BO skill trading.
Third, with a real enemy, we might eventually need real allies and the Fleet Ambassadore would actually have a function beyond just a title.
Fourth, we would eventually set up the 7th MD as the say all and be all for all ground combat events. Just as the Kinkade Research Project was set up for the fleet side, the same could be done for the 7th MD and Ground Combat training.
