I dislike this very much. But it is understandable. May you good ventures in what you do!
You better stay with the radio though! We need DJ Lang on the airwaves!

Sir Please keep in mind that you are going to be missed and that this has been met with disbelief, you are an important part to the Fleet.

Sir, im sorry to see that you have departed the fleet. However I will do for you what you did for me. I will keep the door open sir. You sir, are my oldest friend in game. When I first came aboard, you place me under your wings, your leadership and knowledge about the game help me with all the STF. We are a good team together.. I HOPE TO SEE YOUR RETURN. May God keep you and your family.

Captain Lang,
I'm sorry to see you go. Your contributions to this fleet will be sorely missed.
Your piloting a Miranda was not only your personal flare, it became legendary in the 7th Fleet. Often when I had chat conversations with other players (outside of our fleet) and they said, "I wish I could fly the lower tier ships throughout the game." I used your example to explain that for the most part, they could.
On vent, when there was turmoil, you were always a voice of reason. You had supported me, often, when you felt that I was being piled upon.
You can count on me to give you whatever support you need.
Ezreq

I've been sitting here staring at an empty 'post reply' box for a while now. I don't know what to say, really.
I don't know that Lang would even read this thread; I believe he has removed himself not only from our in game roster, but the forum roster as well.
I can only say that this saddens me greatly. It is truly a weight on my heart, and I feel at fault in some way. If I thought resigning my post and putting a halt to the restructuring would bring Lang back, I'd do it in a heartbeat. As I've said before - I do not do the things I'm doing as CoS to ruin anyone's fun; and I have given all CO's of the various TF's that have been disbanded the opportunity to keep them if they truly wished it.
But, it won't. I did get a chance to speak to Mr. Lang via tells in game late last night. I explained, of course, that he was more than welcome to keep TF 71 intact; I do not wish to force these things on anyone or take things away from people without consent. I am only doing what I think is best for the fleet, and it's overall member base. My thoughts have been that with an established goal of maintaining a 50 to 60 man roster, we do not have the base to support 'niche' Task Forces. Groups like TF 79 and TF 73 do not attract officers; they are/were far too specialized. I think that most of the active folks over in the 78th would say that the Beta restructure has been a good thing - it has removed artificial barriers where they need not have been any.
Mr. Lang's departure is not necessarily about the restructuring, though. If it was simply about that, then this would have been easily remedied during my convo with him last night. Truth be told, I am not quite sure what has been going on with him outside of gameplay. I know that times are tough for a lot of folks right now for all kinds of reasons, and I do not know the specifics in Lang's case. I don't care to speculate, because when I do, I can only really look at myself; what I am doing with my position - in the absence of any other explanation for his departure, I end up feeling like I caused it myself somehow. Then I feel even more guilty, because this shouldn't be about me.
Mr. Lang is far more than an excellent starship captain. He is far more than an outstanding leader. He is my friend, and I am going to miss him greatly.

I am sorry to see you go my friend. I wish I knew the whole story on what is going on. Leaving like that was surprising. Yet, I understand if you have a lot on your mind or maybe just to much stuff going on at the time of the meeting.
I know you will return some day. See you then. Peace.

I noticed that Mr. K'gress found his way over there as well. I wish them all the luck in building their own fleet.

re: Thank you
Just wanted to chime here to share my thoughts on this, first and foremost I sincerely wish them the best of luck and well wishes. I thought of Steve more so as a friend rather than some online acquaintance he helped me form and mold this fleet from the very beginning. So on that note fair winds and calm sea's my friend but DON"T try to recruit from MY fleet That would absolutely FN Piss me off...

There is no interest (Roleplaying or otherwise) in that. I am always on the lookout for a more interesting target, if you have any suggestions?
I was being genuine when I wished them luck. Mr. Lang was very supportive of me when the whole Qis / Flint / Confert situation took place. Although, K'gress also chimed in negatively during that event, I still wish him luck elsewhere.
Now, if you took offense at what I suggested with your own situation, you can PM me and we can hash it out.

I said nothing about being offended. Do you have a guilty conscience or something? It's merely from an RP perspective. That's what this whole setup is about is it not?

I'm glad to hear that you were not offended.
And, No, I have no guilty conscience...because I have no guilt in anything. I have always been, and always shall be loyal to the "Lucky 7th" Fleet.
Finally, yes, my perspective of my TF is that it should function as an Intelligence Agency. Unfortunately, it can only be done on an RP basis, because STO as a game is not complex enough to support the real need for espionage or counter intelligence.
