re: INFECTED/CURE AAR COMMENTS

Here are some AAR comments from last night’s run of Infected and The Cure. For those that participated, please add to/update/change at your leisure.

GENERAL COMMENTS:
• The general flow of STF’s are faster paced
• There are no more nodes to deal with, which is what makes it faster paced
• Sniper Rifles continue to be the weapon of choice. Although we did not test all the weapons, we found that the range of sniper rifles proved to be most effective (moreso in The Cure)
• A general team mix of 3 Tactical, 1 Engineer, and 1 Science toons is what we ran and we found this to be very effective
• Although basic drones and Infected Drones are easier to kill, Elite Drones required a concentrated effort to destroy. Basically, the decreased the DPS needed to kill lower ranking drones while increasing the upper ranked drones.
• Grenades turned out to highly effective. Since their upgrade with Season 4: Crossfire, they inflect higher damage and do not damage fellow team members (to include plasma grenades!)
• Combat tactics were highly relied on. Having to take cover every few shots to remodulate was as necessary as breathing!
• Learning to remodulate is key! Highly suggested to macro the Frequency Remodulator to a spare mouse button or a keyboard key you can get to easily. You will use it over and over and over again. (note, the remodulator is in your ships replicator and is free)
• Flanking Borg, especially boss’s, was critical in the success of the missions!

INFECTED:
• We completed the space gateway destruction in 3 rounds without damaging the satellite generators. Normally this would take many more, but we found the gate hull to fall below 70% after the first round! It was extremely easy. No change in tactics here from the standard, just easier/quicker to destroy the gate
• Once on station, we blazed to the first boss within 10 minutes. Again, there are no nodes, so a concentrated effort of firepower and skills wiped out the Borg in no time. Again, domes were handy to contain Borg within doorways for easier targeting, but was not overly needed. There are far fewer Borg in the area to deal with
• The mini-boss was fairly simple. Draw him out in the open and surround him. This allowed many of us to flank him for greater damage. Be sure to kill all his minions first BEFORE targeting him, else he will agro to you
• Once all the drones are dead, you can draw him out to the center of the room where the rest of your teammates can flank him and wipe him out. It was fairly simple
• Again, we made it from the mini-boss to the final boss in less than 5 minutes. The old strategy of sprinting to the new respawn point isn’t needed. Since there are no nodes, you can simply wipe the drones out as you make your way to Rebecca
• We used the same tactics as before, 3 jumpers and 2 defenders in the middle. Working our way from the bottom left clockwise to the bottom right nodes. No major changes here EXCEPT all the drones in this room have increased weapon ranges and will agro on you at any time without provocation. Best bet, clean them out (at least the first half) before you start jumping
• The final boss, Rebecca Simmons, is more difficult. She requires more damage to kill and is sometimes hard to see/target as she blends in with the background. Key here is spreading out, having your center folks drop as many turrets/generators/support drones as possible as the Borg drones that respawn to help the boss will agro on those. The boss also agroed on those as well, which allowed us to flank her for the kill.

THE CURE:
• No major changes in tactics with the cure. Grenade kits for tactical toons is a must now. Those improved plasma grenades work great! Note: use them between gates and once the gates are down, so they don’t agro on you while taking down the gates
• Firing position selection was key in taking down all the gates; as it was before. Once we got in a rhythm, the gates did not last very long. Focusing on the worker drones from our high up positions with sniper rifles prevented the rest of the drones from agroing on us
• The respawn points haven’t changed. So if you die, be prepared to run, alot!
• Again, no nodes here, so it was little work dispatching Borg along the way between the gates
• The generator area was super easy. Place 4 team members high up on the left wall while one team member stays in the valley. While in the valley, the one team member used a sniper rifle to argo the drones out into the valley where they met their death from the fire team on the ridgeline. It was very quick work.
• The final boss was no major changes. Be sure to take out the drones first before agroing Armek of Borg. Once argoed, flanking damage was key. We pretty much surrounded him on all sides while maintaining 30m apart from teammates. 2 of us tried to keep his attention with the other 3 flanked away. The 2 agroers kept reviving/healing each other until the other 3 pretty much wiped him out. It wasn’t difficult and we had it in 3 tries.

Overall, we had a lot of fun and learned a great deal with the new Season 4 updates to these 2 STF’s. We are going to try KA/Terradome today around 1700est and welcome all that want to participate!

Guys, did I leave anything out? Please add too whenever you can!

Outstanding report! This sums up my recollection of both STFs as well. One thing is for sure, if you bring the right weapons, kits and mix of classes, these STFs can be done faster than ever before.

I had a blast last night, thanks to everyone on our team!

Well you summed it up really good.

Communication is the big key on these like always. Jason covered all for infected.

Only thing I have to add for cure is:
-over 30m is your sweet spot distance. It keeps you out of agro and allows you to fire on targets. Key for boss fight!
-2 people on the first transformer EXCEPT for last gate. Remember worker drones modulate so make sure you split your targets. Don't forget your plasma grenades at home.
-like he said use your high grounds. Look for spots where you can help target workers at 2 transformers.
-BRING HYPOS AND SHIELD RECHARGE. Be safe. I usually keep around 75 of each and only used around 20 each for BOTH STF. bring what u feel comfortable with.

Win button: Bring one of use :D

If you Jason or Keogh one could go in detail strategy for the gates I.e. Who activated what, actions taken.

I was at one the whole time so I can't say what y'all were doin. All I can tell them who is stayed at one activated it.

After all the gates of hell... I mean gates on the cure are the worst STF experience if you hit bumps.

Last night, the gates fell faster than I've ever seen. It took us a bit of experimentation on the first gate with four transformers before we found our optimal setup. As Jason and Huckabee mentioned, finding high ground spots to pick off the worker drones is essential. Further, those spots need to be versatile enough as to allow -if possible - you to pivot and pick off the worker drones at the next transformer that you may be near to.

Nii and Huckabee were stationed at transformer #1, and they did an outstanding job of keeping the worker drones off of that transformer. Both were positioned far enough away as to not aggro the other Borg that spawn with the workers. Nii did the activation of transformer #1. Both Nii and Huckabee are tacs.

Greenhaven was stationed near transformer #2 on high ground in a position that allowed him to pick worker drones off of # 2 but also provide support to transformers #1 & #3 if needed. Greenhaven singlehandedly protected transformer #2 - a monumental task. Greenhaven is an eng. Jason started at transformer #2 and activated it before falling back to assume a cover position for transformer #3. Jason did an outstanding job protecting transformer #3. Jason is a tac.

I was on my science alt and activated transformers #3 and #4, assuming a cover spot on transformer #4 in order to pick the workers off that were attempting to shut the final transformer down.

I would recommend giving activation of transformers #3 and# 4, as well as protection of transformer #4 to the member of the team with the least offensive capability. It was perfect for my science character. The number of workers that spawn to take down #4 is the least of any of the transformers, and as such requires less offensive capability.

I might have missed something in the sequence, or missed particular things team members were doing that added to their ability to protect the transformers, so please feel free to add to this.

One thing that I may have looked over but didnt see mentioned, On the bosses in both STFs, It Should be noted that While they are a good idea to drop for Infected, you must ensure that You the player are a good distance away from them.

That goes for Tac Teams, drones, Basically anything that the Mobs can target and shoot, You want to be not less then 25 yards from them, including your team mates for Infected, and 30 yards on the Cure.

The Bosses special attack does chain, Honestly it acts like the Shaman Chain Lighting from WoW. And we all know how much that SUCKS, but in STO its Uber Powerful and your team will die over and over again.

Good Luck every one hope this helps
