Not necessarily. It's possible he doesnt like something about the direction PW is taking STO, it's possible he got a better offer from someone else, it's possible his wife just had triplets... who knows.

Maybe they switched coffee brands in the office, so he's bailing. Maybe he hates China. Maybe he's a scapegoat for whatever failures PW perceives the game has.

Could be anything, really.

I have to agree with Shack on this.

This, sadly is the nature of everything within our society today, staying the course for long periods of time does not exist. I mean look at football, we used to see great players pend their entire career with a single team. The only true hold out in this current crop appears to be Manning.

The same used to be said about great game makers as well. Look at the Ultima series and Lord British. Now today with games that last long periods on their own we see the game designers come and g, and to me this is truly saddening.

I mean when you find a great visionary for your game then it would be super to have them stay the course over a few years to see the game grow to it's full potential, like the folks at CCP have done.

However that is not case in our society today, people move on regularly. Stahl took a good game with STO and has it standing on the edge of greatness. Now it is time to see what the person that comes next does. Do they stay the course or bring a new direction to STO.

DStahl is probably about due for something a little less stressful. There's a reason CO tours in the military are only 2-3 years long at most. From an operations standpoint, there is probably no better time than now to turnover with someone else.

I'm guessing he is leaving on better terms than Godger Gaute had left Funcom (Age of Conan).

Stahl had delivered a pretty good game, for the Federation side, but he woefully fell short on the Klingon faction. PW had specifically stated in various articles that they expected the Klingon Faction to be fully fleshed out, and I believe that was to be during Season 4.

Perhaps that rolling a Klingon after the first 25 levels was not what they had in mind?
