Personal Log

The USS Iapetus has arrived at Deep Space Nine to repair damage sustained in the Gamma Orionis system. The ship will be down for a week. My crew really could use the break after that last mission as well. After the repairs are finished I am to be reassigned to a new ship. The USS Goldadler has just completed her shakedown cruise and is in need of a new Captain. Starfleet has decided that that should be me.

Most of my Senior staff will be joining me on the new ship with two exceptions. Lieutenant Beneb has accepted a transfer to the Utopia Planitia shipyards. He always said he would much rather build things than repair them all the time. I'm happy to see him move onto something he will enjoy.

Lieutenant Commander Tozla will also be leaving. She is to assume command of the Iapetus. I have mixed feelings about that. She has been with me since the attack on the Vega Colony. She is a dependable and smart woman and has been great help to me with teh day to day operations of the ship. I will miss her.

My family has already arrived on the station and I'm looking forward to spending some time with my Daughter. My sister has also brought her two sons as well. I've decided to take them all to a nice Cajun Restaurant on the station. After that I've arranged for some Holosuite time at Quarks so that we can relax on a beech of Sigma Orionas five. The rings are spectacular viewing and the kids enjoy swimming. The rest of the week I will be going home to Bajor and visit with mother.

It feels good to be going home for a while. It's been hard on Celes since I left for Starfleet. When I was with the Militia I got home much more often. She has started asking to join me on my vessel since Starfleet allows it. I've been deflecting the issue though. I would love for them to be here but the Federation is facing too many threats and we are in a near constant state of war. I hate having to tell her no. With any luck I will be able to have them join us at Starbase 643 when it is completed.
