Lol..if there are fleets that struggle having 5 people on at one time then they're "doing it wrong". Just imho.

I wonder if we have to be in the fleet zone or do we get a fleet wide "red alert" to join in the fight

I would imagine it pops up with a red alert box no matter what zone you are in. Otherwise you would have to coordinate having everyone in a specific area at what I gather is a random time.

HOLY CRAP THE SB DEFENSE IS MIND BLOWING!!
It's divided into 4 parts
Part 1: Escort groups of freighters out of the system
12 freighters go in 4 separate directions and must be defended(deafet all enemies) before they can warp away.
Part 2: Defend the starbase
Simple.. return to the SB and defend it from a large enemy wave
Part 3: Defend outlying facilities
Same as part one except you have to defend a static build (shipyard, comm array, etc.) they have a hitpoint counter of 100% and it goes down from attacks kill all enemies and your done.
Part 4: Ships of the Line
Now it "SAYS" Ships of the line, but we were fighting Klingons and I expected the Bortasqus but just got vo'qus. Have to beat 4 "siege dreadnaughts" and mop up the HUGE force they drop that have sporadic warp ins and your done . Also it has to be a bug, but the SB on this [hase goes red and they all shot it to get it to 0 and you lose points for that so no pew pewing the SB here.
Fleet marks are handed out based on the objectives, how many frieghters you saved, killing all the atackers, how much health the facilites have how much health the SB has. it was really awesome to see 15+ ships in this huge battle!!
