Hey guys...
Just saw a news report about the bombing at the Boston Marathon, I know that most of our fleet comes from the USA so I just wanted to wish you guys all the best...
I hope that all of your friends and family are alright and uninjured.
All the best from Germany. Hope they find the people responsible as soon as possible.

Most recent reports are 2 dead and 100+ hurt. That, by itself is maddening; even moreso are the careless talking heads that say stupid shit so they sound like they're intelligent.

I'm pretty certain this is Obama's fault. Or Bush's. Maybe both. I'm not sure.

I've turned off the news since all it is right now is a bunch of so called "experts" speculating on who and why...I'll check back in in a week or so when the facts are actually known

Yeah its kinda hard now that they are saying there were two more bomb incidents as well. I'll wait to let my jury out.

My son's National Guard unit was stationed at the event from before it started. He got home this afternoon (Tuesday). He was close enough to give some first aid.
He was tired and cold as they were not prepared for an overnight in Boston...lesson learned.
Anyhow, I think it will be a couple of weeks before the dust settles and the real answers come out. The press are a bunch of meatheads spreading gossip, third party opinions, and gross mis-calculations. We will see when we see.

I'm glad for:
Your son's safety
His service (all-around and especially yesterday and today)
I also think you've said things about the event and the media in the most neutral manner possible - I also thank you for that.

Captain Fenrir, please thank your on for his service. Many of us are prior service and have some idea of the sacrifices servicemen and women make for us. This event is surely one he'll carry with him.

I'm glad your son is OK. And, I agree. I long for the days of Walter CronKite, when reporters did there best not to show any emotion while reporting the news - no off hand opinions or commentary was allowed unless it was labeled an Editorial and usually had both view points on an issue. But, speculation was never ever allowed - it was the news. CNN, MSNBC, FOX News they are not new agencies, but tabloid news with commentary so thick that the news is lost in the rhetoric.
One commentator has already started blaming muslims, saying they should all die in his twitter feed. How does news of this, spread around the world, make us look? Public figures should keep their private comments as private comments. Life is stressful enough and just hearing the straight news without the commentary is enough - why enrage people. Maybe I'm just getting old and feeling tired of all the BS.
Wolf, get your son warmed up, and tell him your friends say thank you for a job well done, we appreciate his service, and we are glad he's safe at home. See you in game.
JT

I have passed your expressions to my son, both he and I thank you. This was his first real "anything" I am sure he has grown and learned from it.
As far as the news, I personally long for, for those who can remember:
"Good night, Chet" - "Good night, David... and good night for NBC News"

Wolf,
I vaguely remember the "good night" at the end from each, and didn't they use a classical piece for their credits - heavy on the violin. I was kind of young.
And,
Shack,
It is...goosebumpy. It kind of makes me tear up with the memories of when I was a kid and everyone stood, took off their hats, covered their heart with their right hand and sang our national anthem whole heartedly.
