The Valkryie dropped out of warp as it approached DZ Alpha.
"Sir, sensors are picking up a BoP. No life signs, minimal power. Also, there is an unknown Starfleet vessel that is emitting Croniton particles. I will bring it up on the viewscreen." T'lar brought the ship up on the view screen, and we just stared.
"Wow rather ugly for a Starfleet design." Rawls said, giving a chuckle.
"It looks just like a Soverign, Rawls." Neilel started to say. "'Cept for the holes in the ... ok it is rather ugly." She chuckled as well. I just shook my head.
"Helm, get us in transporter range. We are going down." I got up from the captain's chair and started for the turbolift. "#1, Rawls. Lets go. You have the Bridge, Fin." Finnigan blushes slightly at the nickname, and Neilel shot her a look. "Aye, Sir" I heard her say as we entered the turbolif. I hit my comm badge. "Tactical Squad to Transporter Room 4. Grab an extra phaser rifle from Randle as well." "Aye, Sir" came the reply. "Deck 8, Transporter Room 4"
"What do you think we will find down thier, Captain?" Rawls asked. It actually looked like he was fidgiting from excitement.
"Who knows. Could be eons of knowledge or it could be nothing at all." He stopped fidgiting when I said nothing. "Did the Biosphere mention anything about this Neilel?" She had ben standing with her hands folded in front of her. When the question was posed to her she placed her hands on her hips and tilted her head trying to remember.
"Well, he did say that, for several years, the bugs had been trying to open a tomb of some sort, but never could maybe this was it." We got of the turbolift and met the Tact. Squad in the transporter room. We stepped onto the pad as I hit my comm again.
"Mercer to the Bridge."
"Finnigan here sir."
"Scan the area for an hostiles or strange readings before we proceed."
A pause of a few moments.
"T'lar reports nothing unusual, Captain."
"Very good. Keep an eye for anything though, and let me know right away. Ok Mr. Chance beam us as close as you can."
"I can do better then that. I can put you inside. There's no shielding of any kind, nor is it that buried in the ice."
"Excellent. Energize." We disappered from the Transporter room and emerged in the dark room of the Seed Ark. The Tact. squad turned on their shoulder lights, and Rawls turned the light on the rifle he hefted. All around us were rows and rows of .. bookcases? Durasteel by my readings. Just Durasteel? the Tact team shined thier lights around and all the bookcases were... empty. "Told you. Nothing." I said to everyone. Just then my Comm chirped. "Mercer here. Go ahead"
"CAPTAIN!" It was Fin. "Another BoP has just entered the system, and we are detecting transporter patterns!!!"
"Oh for the love of.. EVERYONE defensive postions! NOW!." No sooner were we in place, when the Klingons finished materializing. We opened fire and they pulled back, deeper into the room. We pressed forward until we came to a little open space, seeming to be the center of the room. There was a pedestal in the center of the "clearing" if you would. The Klingons set up shop on one side and us on the other. All of a sudden, the weapons stopped working. My comm chirped.
"Captain!? Are you there!?"
"Calm down, Fin. What's wrong?"
"Sensors no longer show you or the Klingons in the Seed Ark."
"Of course they wouldn't, for I have blocked them. and have causes your weapons to stop working." We all froze at the voice that was now talking. We turned to see that the pedestal had opened, and what appeared to be a hologram, coming from it.
"I wondered who would be the first to seek my knowledge, but I did not think it would be so violent." The hologram said.
"We come in peace. We only sought the knowledge to study and learn from it." I stepped out, and spoke to the hologram.
"BAH! The Federation wants the knowledge to use in thier losing fight against the EMPIRE!" The apperent leader of the Klingons stepped forward.
"I know of your species, Anton Mercer. Prone to war, but, seek knowledge and understanding on how to prevent it if given the chance. Your claim is accepptable. Your speices, on the other hand," the hologram said, turning to the Klingons, "Is ALWAYS at war. War with others, war within the houses. Your claim is NOT acceptable. I will have no more dealings with you." With that the Klingons vanished. My comm chirped yet again.
"Sir the klingon ship has vanished. I t didin't cloak, its just gone."
"Thank you, Lt. What did you do with the Klingons?" I asked the hologram. It jumped with a start, as if it had forgotten we were there.
"Ah yes,. I sent them back to their home planet." The hologram paused, as if contemplating. We stared, as the hologram apperently continued to contemplete
"EHHHEMM" Neilel coughed really loud. The hologram jumped again, and turned back toward us. "So what is the knowledge of yours? There is nothing here?" Neilel asked the hologram despite the looks I was giving her.
"Ahh yes. Knowledge isn't always writen down you know." It cleared its thoat. "One must be all, and all must be one. If one falls, all fall. If all fall, one may yet pick them all up again." It stopped satisifed it had conveyed the message. Everyone, but myself, was giving it a blank stare.
"Huh?" Rawls stated, rather confused.
"That's the knowledge I impart to thee. Fair well in your travels. The information I have given is invaluable." With that the hologram disapeared.
"I don't get it." Neilel said.
"Me either." Rawls chimed
I chuckled softly to myself. "I'll explain later. Mercer to Valkryie, beam us out. .....
