Sirs,

It has been a pleasure serving with you on many occasions over the last year. With a heavy heart, I must announce my retirement from service.

You are quite simply the greatest fleet in the galaxy. I envy those of you who can continue service but I alas cannot.

So much time in the outer systems, far from contact from you has shown that there is no room for old warhorses like myself. Someone once said "Galloping around the cosmos is a game for the young" ... there is some truth in that (with all apologies for those of you older than me of course).

On a personal note, this Fleet saved me when I was in a very dark place last year. I will never forget those of you that extended hands of friendship and chatted, argued over Org charts and battled along side me against any and all enemies who dared cross our paths.

Finally, to my own faithful crew, I proclaim our motto one last time.

WE ARE STORMES. VERSATILE AND VIGILANT IN ALL THINGS!

I'm very sorry to see your retirement papers land on my desk today, but alas I regret to inform and or remind you of Starfleet regulation B104.2 sub paragraph 3b it clearly states that during times of war ALL Starfleet officers must remain in Starfleet service to also include active and inactive reserves all retirements are to be delayed until further notice. So at this point I have no choice based on Starfleet regulations to deny your retirement request at this time your are to report to the inactive reserve duty roster until which time your are ready for active duty service. Has a matter of fact Commodore FiGiN I would like to see you at tomorrow's staff meeting aboard the USS Challenger 2100 hrs

The greatest thanks and appreciation to everyone who responded in this thread.

Unfortunately, I just don't have the bucks to renew the subscription this year. My new "retirement home" I'm moving into on 5 MAR is taking nearly every penny I have. I only did the 1 year thing which is up very soon.

I will pop in and check on you guys but just won't be able to get in the game anymore.
