6. Fleet Captain Hanson will now serve as Fleet Ambassador and is hereby promoted to Commodore.

7. Captain P'Rett will now serve as Chief of Staff and is hereby promoted to Rear Admiral. Shackelford is frocked to Fleet Captain and will continue to serve in the capacity of Communications Officer.

To the outgoing COS Shackelford....

I know we did not always see eye-to-eye, but I never questioned your time, effort and dedication to this fleet, in the capacity as COS.

Admiral P'Rett, sir, you have some big shoes to fill and in a very demanding job. I know you are up to it! Congrats and good luck.

Commodore Hanson, I can think of no one better for you new position. You stated out as the Commandant of Cadet Training, and now you shall be the face of our fleet when dealing with the STO community of fleets.

Being appointed to this position was definitely a surprise to me, and I appreciate the vote of confidence from the leadership that it represents. I do have a very impressive performance to live up to, and it won't be easy.

Fleet Captain Shackelford has kindly offered to help with the transition, and I'll certainly be taking him up on his offer.

A few things that you can expect from me:
1) One of the things I learned from my 23 years in the military is that a new leader doesn't necessarily need to come in and make changes just because he/she can.

2) I am a firm believer in the chain of command. No, not the chain of command as Jayne Cobb thinks of it (though that could come in handy). The chain of command has a couple purposes; one is to facilitate the flow of information up and down the command structure. The other is to get matters resolved at the lowest possible level. This means I ultimately get to decide what makes it to Admiral Fortin's and/or Admiral Van Wormer's desks. Please contact me first for any issues, ideas, etc.

3) When able, I will be in Vent (primarily in the evenings), and if you need me for anything, please don't hesitate to let me know, and I will do what I can to help you.

I look forward to doing my best for you, the fine folks of the 7th Fleet.
