I just reached the level of Commander and have a new and better ship. I didn't want to get rid of the Shagohod monicer so I named it the USS Shagohod-B. Is that okay? I know I have to change my entry in the DB but I didn't see any rules about that.

You can name your ship whatever u want, the fleet registry is mainly so people can see what members main ship name is. It don't matter if u take a letter on it. I can tell u I just got rid of my old ones so I never had to take in the letter. The only low tier ship I have is the Akira.

I fly the USS Trial - Primary for everything except PVP I use the Uss Sumter for PVP. I only show the Trial in the DB the last time I checked and none of my other ship I own just to say I own them

Well my theory is that the better ship you got to provide in the arsenal, the better to keep up to date in the DB. I don't mind putting any ship I own in the DB because say is something happens to my account and I end up losing stuff. If there's a separate record of the ships that I've registered in the Fleet, I have a much better possibility of getting my ship(s) back at the very least.

Yes that's OK. And, if you look at the Star Trek canon (history) this is a tradition. Look at the history of the Enterprise - when the series TOS moved into the movies in the 1980's they refitted the Enterprise and it was labeled the "Enterprise-B" and on the ship was NCC-1701-B. TNG had the Galaxy class ship the Enterprise-D (NCC-1701-D) and so on.

My ship the Astoria is on version "H". I keep the same NCC # with the hyphen and letter for the new class.

That was exactly my reasoning for it. I just grabbed a heavy escort and named is the U.S.S. Shagohod-B because it's the evolution of my original ship. Though I also remember that the Enterprise had similar configurations throughout its evolution.

One other reason to maintain your primary ship designated with your main character, within the Fleet, is to keep our Fleet artist from going insane with requests for new ship patches. The standards for getting a Ship's Patch is:

1. You must be a member in good standing, officer or cadet.
2. You must have completed your first assignment.
3. You must properly complete Step One.

Once you have met those standards, you can go to the Forum: Fleet Ship Insignia's ( http://www.fleet7.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=817115&gid=84053 )and request your ship's patch from one of our fine artists: Mr Shackelford, Mr Hunter or Mr Evildead.

And, you ship patch is uploaded to the Ship's Store (Cafe Press) where you can buy personalized stuff associated with that patch and the 7th Fleet. So, if you like the name, stick with it, and enjoy buying real life gear with our Fleet and your Ship patches and insignias on them.
Happy Hunting!
JT

Okay, but I haven't received any assignments yet so I'm not sure how to get step 2 done but I'm open for anything. I'm going to try and be on for fleet events so I'll keep trying.

But the patch thing is understandable, that's why I wanted to append a letter to the new ship. The only thing that would have to changed around would be the text.

This is not an actual assignment. Its a retired award for being with the fleet for 14 days.

Well, I stand corrected, which is fine by me. And, which is good for all our new recruits. My post on the 17th is outdated information. We may want to move that info into our "out of date docs" area. See you allin game!

Yes they are still being made. Shack usually waits to make sure a person is sticking around before he puts the time and effort it takes him to make you a unique patch.

Evildead also does them and does an equally wonderful job. He's produced one of the coolest ship patch I've ever liked that I rocked for awhile. (missed my old ship name to much though).

So you can put in a request with either, its just a matter of being patient.

Okay no problem. I know I haven't been in very long but that's why it's good to ask questions.
