Captain's Log - Stardate 91194

Let the record show that this is the first log entry for Captain Michael Vontavious Batiatus. As with those in my line, my words shall be of my bloodline's legacy. Such long tradition that makes even Jupiter himself tremble at such a story.

The Shagohod has been an amazing piece of technology. A big arsenal in such compact packaging that can boost the Federation's defense for many more years to come. The Deferi know of the good will patrols we've been doing in the Orellius System, which has definitely helped us boost our position within the Federation and the 7th Fleet.

Though I haven't been able to help the fleet with internal improvements, I have made strides in assuring victory on the spacial sands against The Borg, who's souless husks of wasted materials further fuel my hate for their way of assimilation, and The Breen, who's cold blood evaporates to my antiproton fire.

It's not Federation tradition to sound so bold but, considering the damage both people have done against us, I just don't happen to pull any punches on the matter. I may not be the most formal captain

But enough of the hot air...

The current plan right now is to build reputation upon the battlefield. Omega Force needs some people and I intend to bring the Shagohod in to perhaps win favor for the 7th Fleet.

The Shagohod now has complete antiproton outfittings along with a new warp core. The added power came from some recommendations that Fleet Captain Genoslal mentioned to me to help build it up. The patience required to be in top form is more than enough.

As with any ship, there is still an insatiable need for more upgrades and more options at our disposal should the need arise.

But wiith any battle, we make due with what is available. We will fight, and we will win. From the sands of Capua herself to the depths of the Delta Quadrant, we stand vigilant as if to face Hades himself head on. The Shagohod is our chariot to victory and The Batiatus family, the 7th Fleet, and The United Federation of Planets will be there to claim our spoils should war come to term.

Captain's Log - Michael Vontavius Batiatus

Stardate 91924.11

I'm not used to this log system. Normally, I'm speaking in front of my crew if I wanted to keep everyone informed in person. I think, as a leader, the crew that follows him should always be informed first and foremost. Making these verbal reports just seems, too submissive. But since Starfleet requires them in order to keep up-to-date with their fleet, then so be it.

The Shagohod has been the chariot of power and might befitting of the Defiant class warship.  We refilled the stock of weapons batteries for Engineering and medpacks for Sickbay. But more improvements may be needed in order to approve it's power.

The crew came to the aid of a Romulan distress call. Apparently it was being attacked by the dogs of the Borg and were being ravaged. Under the protest of Commander Korr, I helped the ship. Little did I know that Korr's concern rang true.

We freed some of the Romulan crew that was held in the ship's brig. 20 drones kept us between the cells and assimilation but the new frequency modulators helped us reap those husks of organ and microchips asunder. Once we freed the Borg of their artificial mortal coils, the Romulans informed us of a Tal Shiar experiment using Borg technology.

Those covert cowards apparently help their prisoners as lab rats. The same lab rats that revolted against the chains that bound them for generations and only to be caught and used to be assimilated as if they were being fed to a pack of wolves. And for what? Tests? I took it upon myself to have them beamed to the Shagohod. It's a tightened fit but they said that anything was better than holding cells.

My team and I confronted the commander on the bridge but encountered wave after wave of Borg garrisons. I wasn't sure about our chances but some quick thinking by my engineer and science officers as well as my bat'leth prowess control the room against both the Borg and the captain.

I held the tip of my bat'leth up to the captain's throat as I confronted her about the experiments they were conducting but of course I was met with denial. As supposed allies, she knew I would run her through had her plot had been revealed. Without moving, I ordered the team to collect any and all Borg technology as well as the records of the tests being conducted. Once it was taken off the ship, I lowered my bat'leth and stood nose to nose with the captain. I still remember the words I said to her.

"If you want a chance to explain yourself and not run like frightened children in the night, you will answer for these crimes. Not by the protocol of Starfleet, but the jurisprudence of a true Centurion."

I beamed off the ship knowing that they were unable to leave due to the damage of the attack. As they worked to extinguish the damage, my officers worked with the victims and they concluded that the Tal Shiar conducted atrocities under the guise of new Romulan alliance. When I contacted the ship, I exposed her plot to both crews.

"Your lies have placed the burden on me to carry out the sentence of Rome," I exclaimed! She tried to deny it and be on her way. But I wasn't having any of it. I then demanded the captain to recite her sacramentum militiae, or military oath, to me on the view screen so that it can be recorded. When she refused, her ego had shown through, typical of the blinded Tal Shiar and their equally blind leader, Sela.

With her defiance, I held her attention as I recited my own Sacramentum that I said during my graduation speech at the academy because it held true in this situation.

"I swear by Jupiter Optimus Maximus and by and any other god that I hold in my heart to be holy, and by the Federation herself, which holds just as much status as any god, to perform my duties with the fire and might that is required of the task my Fleet Imperator should command, follow all laws and principles set forth by the Federation, never to desert, and not to shrink in death on behalf of the United Federation of Planets."

My crew, ever at the ready, said in unison "For the Imperator!" The Romulan captain felt threatened by this but held her ground and dared threaten the sun as her ship's weapons powered up. She told me that I should have just went on my way.

Her arrogance fueled her as two Borg cubes dropped out of transwarp. The battle ensued and nearly destroyed both ships. Then, the Warbird's gunfire became directed at us. Without hesitation, the crew carried out my orders of execution. We proceeded to destroy the Borg technology as ordered and the records retined for further analysis.

I will now focus efforts to investigate the Tal Shiar as their experiments is the biggest threat to not only the 7th Fleet. Not only to the entire Federation. But to the entire Alpha and Beta Quadrants. Their desperation for control will be their undoing.

End log!

Never in my life had I been shocked to the extent of the events leading to right now. The Borg have began to assimilate the Undine. As if those heartless creatures weren't dangerous enough. I still remember the stories Admiral Janeway told us about how they invaded Kess' mind and how they tried to mimic Starfleet itself. That kind of power now in the hands of the Borg is just too large to ignore.

The Shagohod received a transmission from Admiral Tuvok. He ordered us to escort Voyager to a part of space where we entered fluidic space, the home of the Undine. But what we found there made me actually fear for all life in our dimension. A very sobering element in our line of duty.

Despite all that we've seen, my valor will not be so easily wavered. The Borg don't realize what they've started. They started to gain the attention of Michael Vontavius Batiatus and this time, he has an agenda!

Upon discovery of their treachery in a passing cube, my officers and I acted with swift resolve and stopped a handful of assimilated Undine from wreaking havoc in our galaxy. We took down their assimilation nodes and the drones guarding them with full indiscretion with our bat'leths and our unyielding firepower.

After the mission, Admiral Tuvok invited me to Voyager and told me personally how impressed he was with my tactics. He told me that he never saw such ferocity from a human. We had a bottle of Roman honey wine after reporting our mission to Starfleet. This intel will definitely be handy to the Omega Squad. Jupiter must be smiling.

Captain's Log - Stardate 2415.0517 - Captain Michael Vontavius Batiatus reporting:

As of stardate 2415.0504, the Shagohod is back on duty after much needed repairs and refits. I went back to my homeland of Capua to spend time with the family. Some had moved north Molinella to help with some environmental scientists while I had been going back and forth to Rome and Starfleet Academy to help train new recruits and to debrief the situation on Qo'nos.

The hostilities between the Federation and Klingon Defense Force have ceased but at a very high price. Just as the treaty was being signed, a subspace tear had opened right in the middle of the Hall of Warriors. A being had stepped through the void and seemed to vaporize all but one of the Klingon High Council members. The Iconians have risen once again.

I remember learning about the Iconians when learning about Jean Luc Picard and the crew of the USS Enterprise-D. Their gateways are connected to a vast network scattered throughout the galaxy. Or, at least in the Alpha and Beta quadrants as far as we know. I've been able to take two of them out so far but that doesn't seem to have stopped them from opening rifts. Apparently, once the gate opens, you can come out anywhere you want. But what strikes me is that there hasn't been any provocation other than us defending against the Undine. So there could be something behind that.

We have joined the rest of the 7th Fleet and have been a part of eradicating this threat. We have been doing a fair job so far but I know we can do better. I'm currently looking into Starfleet's inventories on all of our allied worlds as well as the fleet's starbase. I see big things in the future of my crew.

The Shagohod is a small ship but it's fierce and has been through enough paces with the Borg and Undine to put up one hell of a fight. Captain Sisko would have been proud of the enhancements we have made based on the Defiant. And I aim to continue my tradition of taking it to the enemy with the fire that has carried my bloodline for thousands of years. We will make our stand. We will not stop. And the Iconians will soon fear the name Shagohod.

This is our virtuous mission.
