As you may remember from a previous announcement, April will be Klingon Appreciation month. This is a chance for those of us in the Fleet who have not created a KDF side toon to do so, and to take advantage of the fact that we have a KDF sister Fleet, the 7th Imperial Tactical Squadron.
Below is the current draft of the monthly schedule, which is to be approved at the end of this month in the Fleet Staff Meeting. As you can see by reading it, there are a few things that we will have to choose to do at the meeting. For any Fleet members reading this, who are interested at all in participating, please do the following:
- Read through the proposed April schedule below.
- Please if you have any ideas you would like to add, or preferences about ideas mentioned in the schedule, reply to this post. This is your chance to make yourselves heard; one of the few chances you will have, without being thrown into the Agony Booth. This is only a draft proposal, so we would very much like to incorporate good ideas and tailor the events to match Fleet member preferences. We will also change around the schedule to help you out if you beg and bribe us enough.
- Create a KDF toon if you have not already, and get an invite to the 7th ITS. To participate in some of the events you will need to be a certain level or higher. You still have lots of time to do this, which is the main reason for this post. My suggestion if you don't have a lot of time to play another toon is to create one, do the basic tutorial missions, get yourself to the low 20s where you can do the DOFF missions, and run them daily. You'll be leveled up by the time the events roll around, and you'll also see one of the things many players don't know about STO-- the DOFF missions are more fun on the KDF side. As you will see below though, one weekend event requires completing some of the PvE campaigns to a certain point, so if you want to join in on that weekend, this is your heads-up to get those going if you have not already.
Klingon Appreciation Month
Proposed
Sponsored by: 7th I.T.S.
When: April 2014
Why: An opportunity for members of the 7th Fleet to learn about Klingon culture. In short, an opportunity to embrace their “inner” Klingon! What happens during KAM events, stays there.
Proposed schedule of events:
Wednesday 2 April: Tour of 7th I.T.S. Star Base. Question and answer for new KDF players about this much maligned and misunderstood faction. Staff will provide assistance to new KDF recruits. Klingon trivia with Captain Thu’fir with fabulous prizes [clear out Fleet Bank a bit]. Bloodwine toasts. Party at the strip club. Survivors can pass out in easy chairs or loll about on the Mugato rug at the glorious fireplace.
Friday 4 April: Bat’leth Tournament -- choose one or two: (1) Unarmed Combat, (2) Bat’leth only, (3) Team Combat (Bat’leth only), (4) Team Combat (full gear)
Saturday 5 April: Space Warfare -- choose one or two: (1) K v K team (BoP/Raptors only), (2) K v K Teams (Favorite Ship) , (3) Ending the night with a Klingon Tour of the Galaxy (Qo’noS, Ganalda Station, Drozana Station, New Romulus, and DS9)
Monday 7 April: Kick-a-Tribble Night (focus on testing PvP wargaming scenarios for future Fleet events)
Wednesday 9 April: Kick-a-Borg @ Ker’ret War Zone
Saturday 12 April: Mid Day Madness. Get as many people together as we can at 2pm EDT so that people in the European time zones can get their KDF group on and not have to stay up until 3am their time.
Monday 14 April: Kick-a-Tribble Night with shuttle vs. shuttle PvP! Type S equipment only, any consoles allowed. Batteries only for consumables.
Wednesday 16 April: Kick-a-Borg @ Ker’ret War Zone
Friday 18 April: Mission re-play. “The Undying” [minimum level 22, melee weapons only] and “Fistful of Gorn” [min level 24] Prerequisite level 22 and 24, and all earlier missions in the “Wasteland” campaign previously completed.
Saturday 19 April: Mission re-play: “Coliseum” [level 28] and “Cutting the Cord” [level 29]. Prerequisite level 28 and 29, and all earlier missions in the “Freedom” [Romulan] or “Romulan Mystery” [Klingon] campaign previously completed.
Monday 21 April: Kick-a-Tribble (focus on Fleet Holdings)
Saturday 26 April: Mid Day Madness. Get as many people together as we can at 2pm EDT so that people in the European time zones can get their KDF group on and not have to stay up until 3am their time.
Note: An idea at the March Staff Meeting might be to push the Replay weekend back to the last weekend of the month, and move the April 26 Mid Day Madness day to the 19th instead. This would give slacker players more time to level up new toons.
