re: Christopher J Kirk

0

Born in Seattle, Washington in 2380, Christopher Jonathan Kirk grew up in the shadow of his ancestor's legend. Descended from Peter Kirk's family line Chris had a good childhood and did well in school. However during his college years Chris fell into bad crowds. Dropping out of college and finding work in smuggling, making a notorius name for himself within the organization Romulan Rum Runners.

Justice would catch up with Chris quickly. On Risa Kirk's crew was almost captured by Tal Shair agents, where Kirk was unloading contraband. (Romulan Ale and Orion slave women) Cornered, Chris attempted to fight his way out of the situation, he would have been captured by the Romulans if not for the intervention of the U.S.S. Titan who immediately took Kirk and his team prisoner and convinced the Tal Shiar to vacate Federation space.

Kirk was given a choice by the captain of the Titan, Admiral Riker...either go to prison or turn his life around by joining Starfleet. At first Kirk rejected the offer saying that he didn't want to be 'just another Kirk in the Federation' to which Chris was informed that there hadn't been a member of his family in Starfleet for over 150 years. Kirk made a counter proposal, he would join on the sole condition that his team would be set free. Admiral Riker reluctantly agreed, and Kirk and his former team went their seperate ways.

It was Kirk's time at Starfleet Academy that changed him. Despite his surname and his past, Chris didn't ask nor expect any special treatment. Making his own way through the academy, learning about Starfleet's greatest commanders, as well as gaining respect for the Federation's greatest accomplishments to attending lectures given by Admiral Janeway and Ambassador Picard. Upon graduation cadet Kirk made new friends, as well as making himself an example of a life turned around.

His first posting was to the U.S.S. Kelvin as first officer for the annual graduate training cruise, supervised by Captain Taggert. Unfortunately the training cruise was interrupted when the Kelvin intercepted a distress call by the S.S Break Even which turned into a full out ambush by Klingon raiders. According to Kirk, and other survivors, the Kelvin was boarded and Taggert taken prisoner by force. Taggert was sadly killed in front of the cadet's eyes, Taggert's final command to the crew was to "Make him proud."

Assuming command, Kirk fended the Klingons off until reinforcements arrived. With the help of the U.S.S. Renown, the Yorktown turned certain death into victory, defeating the Klingons and avenging the death of the Kelvin's former captain.

Kirk and his crew then assisted the Renown with relief efforts. Helping citizens of colony planet [CLASSIFIED] to escape from a Borg incursion. Afterwards, the Kelvin returned to the Alpha Quadrant to be decommissioned.

After a formal inquiry, Kirk and his crew were cleared of any wrongdoings and that Christopher acted accordingly, citing that Kirk had went above and beyond what was expected of a graduate cadet. Immediately afterward Kirk was given command of the U.S.S. Endeavour (NCC-1764) and ordered to find a worthy crew to handle long stay, deep space exploration and research.
