I'm new to the fleet and after talking with a few of you I've realized that to be able to join in with other fleet members and contribute to what they are doing I am going to need to be a higher level. Since these kinds of games are almost always better with friends and I haven really had a chance to bond with any of you yet I've decided to put a team together to blow through the rest of the story and help me catch up.
I play tactical at the moment and command an escort. I've been playing the episodes as listed in the episode list from top to bottom and just got to the dyson sphere. So I still need to complete that episode followed by Delta Rising, the Iconian war and whatever they have up rite now.
Advantages of doing this in a group are as follows:
For me- I'll get a chance to build teamwork and get through this story faster then normal. I'll also be able to pick up any tips and tricks the team may throw out during play. This lets me make a better first impression when I start playing bigger and better fleet activities.
For those that join- You get the chance to bond with another fleet member. When I get to a point where I can join in your activities I will already have an idea of how you tend to do things and what I need to do for the group to be most effective. This gives you another player to call on when you need help.
For the 7th- Every unit has its own way of doing things. The 7th is not likely to be an exception to that. By going through this earlier stuff along side other 7th fleet members I'll have the opportunity to be molded and indoctrinated into the 7th frame of mind. This will make me a far better member when I start doing fleet activities latter. There won't be as much of a need to help me sort out what we are doing and why. It will also give me a chance to get used to push to talk. That way when we get into higher level group activities we are less likely to run into issues where you ask me a question and I reply but you can't here me because I forgot I had to push a button. I smaller learning curve means the fleet leaders won't have to put in as much time correcting me or guiding me thus leading to a more effective fleet.
So who will perform this selfless act and go through what they have already seen and likely won't be rewarded for to help me catch up?

So I guess most episodes are single player only. While that makes me feel like I didn't miss much playing them solo up until now it does put an end to my plan here for the most part.

I don't think most are, just a relative few. Off the top of my head, Temporal Ambassador is one; the beginning of the Dyson Sphere arc is another (can't think of the name at the moment.) This is a good idea of yours and I hope you get folks to join in. I work 3rd shift (overnights), so probably wouldn't match up to your schedule. Otherwise, I'd be happy to dust off the login and help out from time to time.

Back in the day (last year) we had Ensign's night, where the junior officers would do missions together on Monday nites. Recruit fellow junior officers and pick and night and time to do missions together. That said, imho, the "leveling/grinding" of STO is meant to be solo, to develop your own skills for that toon. Then you roll another toon and choose a different career path and "rinse & repeat," till you find the career and/or Toon that you love to play. Once the training wheels are off and your are ready to put on the big boy underwear, then roll another toon, and go Klingon Defense Force. This is why many of us have four (or more) toons in the game; I have eight. At level 50, you can join most of the rest of the fleet with STF's. Also, now that we are part of a Armada, if you are short a player or two, call out to them to fill out the roster. I assume this also works on the Federation Side of the game? Most of us hate PUGS (Pick Up Groups) for various reason, and generally seek out fleet members to join us. On the 7th I.T.S. side, we look forward to our Monday nite "Kick-a-Tribble" events.
Also, don't overlook the 7th Fleet forums for information. There is a vast amount of information here and STO has a long learning curb. Qapla'

If you happen to catch me on Fed side, send me a tell or hit me up in fleet chat and I'll join you. Also, you can always send a query in fleet chat for people to team with you. There are usually people who are just spoiling for an opportunity for group actions.

Just sort of skimming the thread, thought I'd remind everyone that technically anyone player can help any other player through the matching system. By setting someone in the group as 'squad leader', other group members can match that persons level. This lets mature characters go through early missions with newer characters without impacting their experience gain.
