re: Two Questions: Ship recommendation and Heavy Weapons

So, attempting to return to the game, and going through a few characters, I see an empty weapon slot called "Heavy Weapons." New to me - what do?

Also, I posted about this in the Facebook group, but have a little over 4k Zen, and looking for an Engineering focused cruiser; looking at the Guardian, Concorde, or Resolute. Thoughts, suggestions?

The heavy weapons slot was introduced not too long ago to increase the viability of escorts. It's a special weapons slot (like the science secondary deflector) that can only slot specific "heavy weapons". You can claim a free heavy weapon in the reclaim tab of the dilithium store. There's the flak cannon heavy weapon in the competitive rep store with a bit more dps and a better graphic if you don't like force lightning flying from your ship from the free one.

My two cents:  1) Presidio Tactical Command Battlecruiser (All hands on deck)

                        2) Arbiter Battlecruiser (Emergency Weapons Cycle)

                        3) Yorktown (T6) (Old School Trek)

I went with the Arbiter Battlecruiser.

And your KDF side?

Found on reddit Builds RE: Arbiter build. Nice conversation here.

another build here which is an Engineer Capt.

Also, sheer speculation mind you, there is potential that next C-Store ship will be engineering strong to support the new specialization Miracle Worker.

arbiter is the BEST ship all around. hands down. the trait is a must have. the ship is 80% of players goto. It has been my main ship for a long time, i always seem to come back to it

BTW, heavy weapons are now called experimental weapons, so dont get confused at first like i did!

If you are buying, the versitility of the T6 Connie - Temporal Light Cruiser has much to be desired.  It is small and manueverable.  It has 5 forward and 3 rear weapons, so it feels like an escort, The console gives you some leathal buffs and bonuses.  The Klingon counter part is a D7 Temporal Battlecruiser.

But, the other T6 Advanced Light Cruisers are a good buy, also.  And, the T6 Miranda brought Lang back to the game.  They are flexable enough for all three classes, with a little extra for an Engineer, after all it is a cruiser.  And, I really like the Univ. Consoles on both - and run both on both (if that makes sense).

And, I am just as happy with the D7.  Ask Kor he loves his.  Besides, you can dress it to look Old School, while you beat the crap out of someone with it.  You don't have to take my word for it:
