With so many people on one server, it's going to be tough to get a ship name before someone else does (unless they will allow duplications)

They have inferred that you can duplicate ship names, as they are tied to your "account", but just in case ... thats the reason I always do the pre-orders to get the early access so you can jump in and get your name first and foremost! The extra booty is just a nice to have!

If I had a salvage vessel, I'd name it;
USS Grasp NCC 2012 salvage vessel
USN has such ship by that name. A submarine rescue and recovery ship.
the other 2 ship in a previous post
USS Skipjack NCC 2010 fast attack ship
USS Shangr-La NCC 2011

Well Star Fleet lost this ship.. J T Kirk served as a Navigator, on his first tour, out of academy, aboard this ship.
The ship was destroyed
I would like to resurrect this ship ,for my command
It was a Nebula class Heavy Cruiser
USS Farragut NCC 60957 arrived late for the battle at WOLF 359
spearheaded a rescue operation there
Uss Farragut NCC 60957 rescued the marooned crew of the Enterprize after the saucer section crashed on Veridian III
USS Farragut NCC 60957 was a Nebula Class Heavy Cruiser
second starship I believe to carry that name. First was a Constitution Class

I think I am going to resurrect a ship from one of the old games I used to play. Plus this was actually a vessel in the 7th fleet (according to Star Trek Wikipedia):
USS Dauntless NCC-71879-A
The USS Dauntless (NCC-71879) was a Galaxy-class Federation starship in service during the 24th century. (Star Trek: Bridge Commander)
The Dauntless was commissioned in August 2365. Her first captain was Leland Bell. Dauntless joined the Seventh Fleet in that year. She was involved with several skirmishes with Romulan warbirds, and held her position until Starfleet ships could come to her aid. This action earned her a Unit Citation.
Dauntless was nicknamed the "Seeing Eye." Captain Bell retired in 2372 and Robert Wright became commanding officer.
During the Dominion War Dauntless fought at the Battle of Tyris, the Second Battle of Deep Space Nine, the Battle of Goralis and the Operation Final Assault.
At Tyris she earned her second Unit Citation and battle honours by assisting the USS Lionheart rescue some heavily damaged Akira class vessels from Cardassian attack. Dauntless earned her third and final Unit Citation in the Battle of Cardassia Prime.
After the war she was assigned to the Maelstrom to study the Vesuvi cloud. The star of Vesuvi erupted, killing Captain Wright. The Dauntless' executive officer assumed command.
Sometime thereafter, the Dauntless fought against a Cardassian rebellion and her captain and crew were assigned to the USS Sovereign. During the rebellion she was heavily damaged and was evacuated before her hull collapsed.

The Ship will be called U.S.S. Event Horizon
as for her designation it will be NCC-91977
She will hopefully be Galaxy class ( go with tried and true)
a bit on why 1977: in 1977 we officially discovered the Blackhole Cygnus X1 , this seemed a great recognition of that event.
Of course Event Horizon comes from the term for designating the edge of a black hole matter begins to be caught by the gravity well.

as for her designation I am uncertain as how to ascertain that.
Right now it's your choice. You decide the NCC you want.
