As I go threw the casualty list and I shake my head this is a big butchers bill. What is on this plant that is so valuable to the Klingons that they would risk so many life’s then I start looking at damage reports they banged us up good but we are in one piece thank goodness. Because my crews quick assessment of the situation and there hard work is the only reason we made it threw.

it only takes a moment for the Nevada to blaze a swooping downward corkscrew maneuver through the most populous region of our fleets formation. It is quite a light show. I shouldn't have to worry about being followed.

Our comm channels are damaged, shields at 70% and holding,
most of the bridge crew has arrived by the time we are clear of any immediate danger.

I begin to get a clearer picture of the Nevada's condition

Nice flying Mr Adams, bring us to 101 mark 3, impulse power 2,
Scorpion Defense Mode if you please. We arrive in perfect position
to protect the Solace from any more unwanted attacks.

Captain Mikey, you know what to do, begin getting the most seriously wounded from the fleet beamed to your ship and organize the routing of the less wounded according to our fleets combined Med Centers.

Captain Yatug, please set up the morgue facility aboard the Booty Bay,
I am afraid we are going to need it.

Mister Fiddeck, locate Mr Sims tracking device. Where is that SOB, this was his watch dammit.

I turn to go back to my ready room and put on some real gear when
I notice that most of the rear bulkhead of my bridge is completely missing. My head begins to separate slightly from neck, hmmm, no wonder the lights were so bright.

I say, Lt Levin, "where is my conference room?"
Lt Levin - That was the first photon hit sir.
Mister Fiddeck - Sir, Mr Sims is not aboard the Nevada.

Lt. Alexander stepped into Captain Mikey’s ready room. The Captain was already elbow deep in reports, supply updates, manning docs, potential casualty influx, and everything else a Captain needs to review before war.

Lt. Alexander handed over another PADD with additional status updates. He cocked his head slightly as he was trying to place the tune playing, “Is this classical Pink Floyd, Sir?”

Mikey did not even look up from his desk, “Dark Side of the Moon to be exact. Funny title, as there is no dark side of the moon, it’s all dark.”

Alexander nodded. Classical Earth music was a favorite of the Captain, especially on the eve of battle, “The ship is at 100%, Sir. Cargo bays fully converted, EMHs are online, crew ready and ready for receiving. We could hold the better part of half the fleet if needed.”

“Yes we could. Let us hope it doesn’t come to that.”

Alexander smiled grimly, “As always, Sir. Your customary ‘pep talk’ has been scheduled at 1900, though morale is high and I don’t suspect it will take much to get everyone into the fighting spirit. Any specific orders before then?”

Mikey looked up from his desk and eyed Alexander thoughtfully, “Do you still have that bottle of Jack Daniels from your promotion party stashed away?”

“Yes I think I might.”

“Good. When this is over we have some drinking to do.”

“Orders are orders,” Alexander smiled, nodded, and stepped out of the ready room.

As I look at my desk full of reports on my desk I think to my self If I see anther iam going to scream. I tap my com badge capt. To medical start triage protocols on the wounded so we can treat them more effectively. And get every one on the road again. Capt out. Iam just worried we have a lot of wounded and I want every one to get the care they need to be back in tip top shape. The fleet did a good job and defend ending ourselves against the Klingon defense forces it shows you what a well disciplined and trained team can do.

Snow woke in the sick bay of the Nevada. The pain was omnipresant.

"Ok Lt., lets get you over to the fleets central medical center. They will have a knew knee waiting for you." The doc approached Snow with a hypo spray. Snow reached out and gripped the doctors wrist.

"Keep that thing away from me. I'm not going anywhere. Fix me up here doc, Im not leaving the Nevada. When I can stand I will stand here. This is my post and I plan to be at it in less than 24 hours. So you better get stitching" The doctor had no reply. He walked off out of ear shot and tapped his comm. Snow didnt bother straining to listen. What would happen would happen.

Moments later the doc came back. "Ok Lt, lets get to work."

Snow was tenderly exploring the bandage on his head, the one covering his missing antena, as he flexed the cybernetic knee. It was stiff, he didn't like it, but it would have to do until time could be made for a cloned replacement. At least his antena would grow back.

"Here, take one of these every six hours. It should help with the disorientation and nausea until you regenerate your antena." The doc smiled as he tossed Snow the bottle of little blue pills. Snow grimaced and hopped off the table. The knee was sturdy at least. He shook hands with the doc and made his way to his quarters.

Along the way he spotted an ensign that looked like he needed something to do. Snows quarters were spartan, very little in the way of personal affects. He grabbed his Fuku manual, hand written by his father, and instructed the ensign to have everything else transported to the Viking. "Aye Captain"

It was time to take the bridge.

The comm channel chimed.
"Sir, we are coming up on 643 now." Rawls said happily.
"Good. I'll be up in a minute."
"Yes, sir."
That's good. I had just finished the roster assingments too.

.......
I look over the list one more time to make sure it's correct. I know the admiral hasn't responded to my request for Neilel, it's just wishful thinking on my part. The comm channel beeped again.
"We have arrived at 643, sir. Man, Fleet engineers don't waste time do they?"
"Hmmm? I'll be right there." I finalized the roster duty into the computer and headed out onto the bridge. Rawls was right. Engineers don't waste time. As I entered the bridge, I glanced at the viewscreen and saw the warbird nearly in half in one of the drydocks. "Geez, you'd think they would at least wait a bit before carving it up like a turkey. Anyways Ca.." I now noticed that all the cadets were gone. Replaced by the regular bridge crew. "I'm sorry .... Finnigan was it?"
She smiled, obvoiusly happy I remembered her name. "Yes captain? Shall I hail drydock for a sit rep?"
"You read my mind."
Her smile grew even bigger as she reply, "Yes ,sir!". The channel opened and a drydock operator appeared on screen.
"Valkryie this is Drydock. You have been cleared for dock 7 on the far side of 643."
"Thank you. Can you patch me through to a Miss Neilel?"
The operator responded with a smile. "Of course I can. She also is at Dock 7. Patching through now." The image of the dock operator was replaced by Neilel. I was surprised to see her in a Starfleet uniform.
"Well what took you so long?" was the first thing that came out of her mouth. She smiled, even though she was trying to be serious.
"Well hello to you too. Sit Rep please?"
Neilel put her hands on her hips as she began, "Well these engineers have some fast fingers I can say that much." She looked off screen and smiled at someone. A jelousy pang flew through my body, but I quickly subdued it, as she continued. "The enhanced shields, and warp core will be a no-brainer to upgrade. The weapons augments will have to be done after since they draw more power then normal. The deflector array can be upgraded somewhat to allow for multi spectral scanning and dection of cloaked ships without tachyon bursts. The transports, with the deflector, should be able to transport through shields, and of course they still wanted to try the cloaking device, even though I told them not to, and nearly blew the drydock away. All in all, I'd say, if we get started right away, we should be done with refits within 20 hrs, test everything for the next 4, and then can get under way."
"A DAY?!?! THAT'S IT!?!?" I nearly screamed my surprise.
"Yup. Come on, you didnt forget how fast I am, did you?"
"No, of course not. Very well," I turned to the Caitian helms..woman?
"Ens. Jo...'tan? Did I say that right." She purred.
"Yes you did, Captain." She purred again.
I'm goin to have to get use to that. "Ens. Jo'tan , dock us with Drydock 7 so we can get underway."
"Aye, sir." Her hands flew across the console with cat like reflexs. "Well, she is a cat. Gonna have to get use to that too." I think to myself. The Valkryie docked with the station and worker bees began their work...

Captains Log: The Viking is a fine ship. Defiant class, she is armed to the teeth and nimble as an Andorian frost tiger. Her crew is mostly green, but capable, and from what I've seen so far they are eager to prove themselves

My first officer, Tatyana Shivan, a Bajoran, was recently promoted to commander. She has been a boon to me so far, Im sure she will make an able captain one day herself.

My chief tactical officer, Lt Commander Turok, a Vulcan, takes battle more seriously than even I do. Although he denys it, claiming that in a war ravaged time it is only logical to be prepared to defend one self against agressors, I think I can see a deep satisfaction edging into pride when he is in control of this ships arsenal.

I've never really trusted Betazoids, though I've never really known any except in passing. I suppose this will be a perfect opportunity. My communications officer, Ensign Brailen Tai, has made an excellent first impression.

Good old Lt Cmdr Artimus Gordon will be stationed at the secondary tactical station. He has proved himself to me time and again, it is good to have him with me.

Lt Siera Degado, my science officer, has remained somewhat of a mystery to me so far. She is human, but unlike any humans I have encountered so far. I will have to make a point of inviting her to have sushi with me some night soon. A Captain should know his crew.

At the helm is Ensign Abigail Drake. She's fiery, cocky, and quite the prodigy from all the reports. So far though she is largely unproven. Lets see how well she flies this ship under fire.

My chief engineer, Lt Marcus Goodyear, is almost a complete opposite to Lt Degado. He is loud, outgoing, and an open book. His enthusiasm for his work is second only to his genious.

The Doctor... I should preface by saying I hate doctors... Penelope Cloud, is possibly one of the most infuriatingly upbeat people I have ever met. I am assured by Starfleet that she is one of the best combat medics to have ever stepped on a starship... we shall see.

For now we continue to escort the Nevada to DZ Alpha. I look forward to seeing what the Viking can do.

re: More questions than answers

I awaken in a room. Just an ordinary room.

I look around, from the bed. It feels like one in any number of lodging establishments. Nothing special. Ok, it's definitely not a hotel, there's no Gideon Bible in the nightstand.

There *is* a picture on the nightstand of a fellow in some kind of uniform. I wonder what that's there for?

I mutter aloud "I wish there was more light in here so I could see."

A voice asks me what intensity. There's nobody here so that's the computer, I guess. I say twice as bright as it is now and the dutiful computer complies. Computers are a necessary evil but useful at times.

Now I can see a little better. Still not much to look at.

I am deliberately avoiding asking the important questions ... nagging at me. I'll get back to that.

I carefully get out of bed and walk to the sink. I splash some water on my face and gently towel it off. I look up into the mirror. My face ... seems oddly familiar. I walk back over to the nightstand and pick up the photograph.

It would appear that the fellow in the uniform is me.

Ok. Now what?

"Computer, please identify the occupant of this room."

That seemed like a good idea. It also seemed like an eternity before the pleasant voice replied.

"Ensign George F. Garnath, current assignment, USS Nevada, Task Force 72."

For some odd reason the first thing I think about is whether there are really 71 other Task Forces or if 72 is just some arbitrary number. I guess I'll have to ask someone. It's a pretty good assumption that someone else is here. I am apparently on a ship after all. And since I don't even know what I'm doing here, someone else must be driving. Unless of the course, the pleasant computer is in charge of that too.

I hear a buzz. Sounds like the door. Apparently, I have a visitor.

The damn door buzzes again. I gather up whatever courage I have and quietly say "Come in."

Mission Report to the Admiralty and Captain Mikey of U.S.S. Solace and the 7th Fleet

Mission name: “Chronometric Particles”
(for a more detailed account and other points of view, please see forum thread "Enroute to U.S.S. Solace, Chronometric particles")

Star date 11232009 5:00 pm ship time

While on Route to U.S.S. Solace aboard the Shuttle Craft Puddle Jumper I detected Chronometric Particles in sector 476 near the Themala System. I contacted the Solace and Lt Alexander chief Science officer ordered for me to run a full scan, and report back to Solace. Upon finishing the Scans I change course back towards the Solace, upon exiting the system, my shuttle craft passed by the Themala Nebula. The Nebula is high in electrical fields, that distorts sensors, my shuttle was unable to detect the Mirror universe ship that emerged from it, one shot and my Warp engines were down. I punched my impulse to full power and set out an emergency distress call. The Solace responded, the only chance I had was to be transported, but I was 10 minutes away from being transported. The Mirror Vessel, which seemed to be an old constitution class vessel, drained my shields in a few shots, One more hit and the Shuttle Craft would be lost. I had no weapons, the only thing explosive I had was leaking warp core and one torpedo. I turned my shuttle craft towards the vessel, dodging several phaser volleys. I dumped my warp core between the Vessel’s Nacelles and launched my single torpedo; it successfully detonated the core and crippled the vessel. I was then able to rendezvous with the Solace and begin reassignment. Upon reading the data collected by the shuttle craft, Chief Science Officer LT Alexander, believed the best course of action would be to send the mirror vessel back through the chronometric rift. After repairing the Solace from the latest Klingon Attack, Captain Mikey gave us the go to infiltrate the Mirror Vessel, repair it and send it through the rift.

When we transported to the ship we blended in with the rest of the crew, we had modified tricorders so we Ensign Keogh went to astrometrics, Ensign Anders went to the Science Labs, Lt Alexander took the Marines to the bridge, and I was assigned to engineering. Once we separated I did not see my team till much later, I went to engineering and began a diagnostic of the damage systems, and I began downloading the computer core into my tricorder, during my time in Engineering I was confronted by two crewmen, they detected my cybernetic arm. The two men challenge who I was, I lied I told them I was from the Emperor, that the Captain had failed and I was going to Kill him, they believed the story and joined my side. I ordered them to go and simply repair the impulse engines. When they left I was alone in engineering, took me a couple of hours, but I finished downloading the core and repairing systems in engineering. Lt Alexander wanted us to meet at specific coordinates when we finished our tasks, along my way I was met by The two crewmen in engineering Joan, and Kimble, they were being followed by a large security detail and they were carrying an unconscious Ensign Anders. I froze, thinking I had been discovered, I turned around to see another security detail, I was trapped. When they finally reached me, they greeted me and hailed me as their new Captain, I was startled to say the least, Kimble and Joan went on to retell the story of how they saved Anders life and killed the Captain. Now that I was being hailed as Captain, they basically took me the bridge where we found that the bridge crew was hailing Lt. Alexander as their new Captain. Of course the crew members began to aim phaser at each other, it wasn’t until Lt Alexander and I with the rest of the team decided to discuss things outside the bridge that we came up with the idea of taking over the vessel. The team decided to let me take over the vessel since most of the crew were already backing me, we faked the others death, they were beamed back to the Solace and they transmitted coordinates where I would take the ship to meet with a prison vessel that could beam the crew up quickly. After the crew was taken except for Kimble and Joan, I warped to the fleet’s location to give the ship over to the admiralship.

What we discovered about the ship, was that this mirror vessel had found a rift in their universe, the rift opens and closes to different time periods and realities, how it was formed is unknown, the Mirror universe Ship used the rift to prey on unsuspecting victims, taking their technology and adding it to their own, given their low level of development, they were unable to efficiently understand or use it. What we have ascertained is that this ship began as a small constellation class vessel, and when they acquired a 28th century Borg device, how they came about it is unknown, but the device is part of their rapid re-generation system, but it also can be used to reconfigure the ship to any shape and size if enough Raw material is on hand. They next big thing is that the ship has installed is a 25th century Romulan cloaking device, Mk V transphotonic Torpedoes, Blue prints to the Enterprise G from the 26th century, and an advance computer system origin unknown. Finally they have installed a wormhole drive, again origin is unknown, but the drive instantaneously allows the ship to travel from point A to point B in an instant. While waiting for the prison vessel to arrive I experimented with the Borg device, Changing the Vessel into the Enterprise G variant, before meeting with the fleet Joan and Kimble informed me that every time they changed the vessels form they changed the name, I Chose RoMartia because it was the Mirror worlds version of Rome. I present this vessel to the admiralty, as a gift from the crew of the U.S.S. Solace. End Mission Report
