re: BETA UPDATE
UPDATE
It appears that everything works except my microphone.
I will go get a headset today.
My son has supplied me with about 8000 songs today, mostly
Viking Metal .
The "beta system" as it stands right now. If my
computer is on and SAM is up and running, the station is "On-Air"
in Auto DJ mode. It will just pick songs from my library and play
them. I can at any time manually arrange songs etc and become
the DJ. Or before I walk away, fill the Q with what I want SAM
to broadcast. This is all new to me and it has a bit of a learning
curve as I discovered last night. It takes many songs to fill 6 hours.
I have purchased whats called DualCast Hosting. This allows
us to stream video as well as music. That is why the media player
is there in the window. We haven't got to that yet.
SAM also generates many html pages for the website, last played etc.
We haven't got there yet. But the Station Info button opens Audio Realm, another player of sorts which list more info about us and lists us on the web somewhere.
We also plan on setting up an ftp server so members can upload music etc they want played directly to the fleet7radio website for the DJ's to get.
The Mission of Fleet 7 Radio is to provide entertainment
for the Officers & Crews of the the "Lucky" 7th.
1. This Radio Station is rated Hot AC NC17 L
2. Once the broadcast network is established, all members
will have an opportunity to participate in the programming.
> Becoming a DJ & Performing their own LIVE shows
> Performing their own LIVE shows or Announcements
> Providing pre-recorded content to be played in the Q-System
> Providing individual sound-bites and comedy bits (mp3) to be played
in the Q-System
FORMAT
We are using SAM4 Broadcaster Software
SAM4 only works on Windows based machines.
This is a full featured broadcast package.

If you want to participate, download the trial version. Our next step
will be to see if we can share the hosting info and switch streaming DJs.
My original intent was to host this myself on my own server which I already have and pay for. It is fully capable of doing it. At this point I don't know enough about it to make that happen, so I bought additional hosting from SpatialNet because it sort of plug and play. I am payed up for 30 days.
I hope at the end of this 30 days to switch the hosting to my server. This will save a fortune in the long run.
I will start a Forum for the station and try to come up with a loose
programing guide, with your help, to mix the right music with your
missions. I love killing Klinks to Heavy Metal, movie scores and sometime Barbara Streisand. OK, I just like Killing Klinks.
DONATIONS
The Deputy Commander has personally spent $370.00 on this so far.
I did this beacuase I am a Big Nerd and I wanted to. I want to learn it
and know that it will have business applications for me in the future.
That being said. Anyone who would like to ease my WifeAgro can
Donate to my PayPal Account <signguy@signguy.com>

I have also downloaded the SAM program. I look forward to getting some more information to provide some stress relief entertainment for the fleet.

been reading up on it. is there a feature for others to log into the station and do some DJing for you. like a client only software? Doesnt seem right that each person willing to help the owner out need to pay the $ 250 to ge tthe software, seems redundant to me. I have checked th e forums and didnt see anything about thatt there.
Let me know.

It appears that, right now, "The Station" is the DJ's computer running the Stream. So, what we are currently sharing is the Hosting Stream Info.
If you have a copy ( even the Trial Version ) of SAM or SAM DJ ($139.00)
we can share the airways and you can essentially do a show, control the stream from your computer.

If it is possible I would like to try to DJ at some point. Could we get some guidance to learn how?
