Excellent read sir, always appreciate historical info on famous ships! And here's some background on the Leyte Gulf:

1st time the name comes up is in the Spanish American War when a gunboat captured from the Spanish is renamed USS Leyte, no further information on this vessel is available so it's ultimate fate is unknown though it was likely sold and scrapped after the war
