Pirates...

...of the Burning Sea; does anyone here play it? I've been on a bit of a pirates kick lately, having re-installed the Sid Meier game on my laptop, and buying the same game for the Wii.

PotBS is FTP, so I figured I'd give it a try; it's been pretty enjoyable so far, though I've only made it to level 6 as a French privateer. I play on Antigua (the non-EU server).

Im trying the game out now, have to try out the Brits though. As soon as i logged in, someone instantly traded me 30,000 Gold, and a ton of bronze ammo, just because i was a new player.

Sheesh... I let it download for 9 hours... and only got to 5.2GB of 7.5.... I'll try again tomorrow night. Hah.

It occurred to me that PotBS bears some similarities to STO. You have both ship-to-ship combat, along with captain abilities, and your sword and pistol fighting, with your swashbuckling style.

from what i understand, crafting is very SWG like. 10 slots per "server" per account to set up crafting buildings, and everything in game is player made. my second character will be a freetrader. Does suck that you can only pick 1 Nation per server, and there are only 2 servers

I made a british Naval officer Miran Le'Bluff add me and its rather fun fun and prett is right its very much like sto even the ship combat is very similar with similar shield/armor hull/structure setup and I'm on my new laptop and it only took me 45 minutes for the whole download

Didn't realize you could only play 1 nation per server. So be it. Guess I'll be sighting you over my guns, then.

Mr Mercer, me thinks it would behoove us to create a 7th fleet on the brit side. even if there arnt a lot of us, or people playing all the time, could be fun.

Damn you all for peaking my interest...downloading it now...will be creating a British Privateer or freetrader on Antigua once the servers are up again...and yes...the 7th British Carribean Squadron has a nice ring you think?

Ok, i went and made Seventh Fleet on the Brit side. PM Kathra Sikora for an invite, or post here. I can send you fleet invites even if your offline, as long as you are not part of another fleet.
