Our tour of duty on the Halifax has come to an end. We are returning to Kinkaid Station to turn the ship over to Yard hands. The Halifax is to be Stripped and rebuilt for its next research mission.
Many of the technologies tested on board are to be incorporated into newer starfleet vessels. While i would like to see the new Cloaking Field and Phaser Lances incorporated, they did not perform as expected. Power requirements for the Phaser Lance are too high for ships with a normal warp core.
The new Nacell construction techniques worked far better then we ever dreamed possible, indeed they are being rushed into the new Odyssey Class starship, along with many of the other still classified technologies present on the Halifax.
I have just received word that one of the first Odyssey Class has been delivered to Kinkaid Station. Dock hands have already begun stripping and rebuilding this odyssey to fit our needs. The stock warp core has been removed, to be replaced by the Halifax's current Core. This should show an 83% increase in power over the stock Odyssey Core.
Hopefully we can improve upon the design of the Odyssey. While it will take some time before this ship is ready for battle, i have already decided to re-christen it as the Mackinaw B, and retain it as my personal command. One of the perks of Commanding Kinkaid Station.
My old Vanguard class Mackinaw has hit the breakers. While a great ship, it proved too limited for our needs. I have shifted my command to the Warship Fearless until such time as the Mackinaw B is ready to leave drydock
