Two weeks ago, one of our new Inter-spatial probes malfunctioned, and lodged itself into a pocket of subspace. All attempts to remove the probe have failed. 8 days ago, sensors on board the probe detected Borg transmissions.

After further investigation, we have determined that the Subspace Pocket is actually the inner wall of a Borg Transwarp Conduit. We left the probe in a passive recording mode, hoping to use it as a detection system for Borg movement.

Until yesterday, Conduit use was minimal. Today, we have recorded a 13,000% increase. Borg ships of all sizes have been recorded heading through the corridor.

Our current projections place the Conduit exits somewhere in Federation Space. We urge Starfleet Command to go to the highest state of readiness. I am bringing the Mackinaw out of dry dock, and refitting her for extended Borg encounters. Borg Adaptive shielding has been installed, and we are working to upgrade the warp core and deflector with Borg Technology.

This could be the invasion we have been dreading for many years. . .

I received the orders from Starfleet to take control of the Battle Group located in Alpha Centauri Sector Block. I task my comm officer to send out a call for all Starships in the area. Over 50 captain and there ship respond and made there way to the staging area.



I had all Captains to report to my bridge for a brief on the current situation and our enemy target. My First Officer notified me that we have the Borg fleet in range. “Captains report to your bridges and standby for battle.” The Borg Fleet look to be weak, however we have never seen this many ships in one area. “They are planning to take over all Federation Space” All Captains engage now!!!!!



We where able to take down the first couple of wave very easy.. “CMDO Augerson, there is something large and moving very fast to the battle area” Oh my God, we have never seen a Borg ship like this before. “All Captain engage the mother ship now!!!” With great team work we was to bring down the mother ship.

We made it back to spacedock 7 days again. I've had very little sleep since then. The command of 7th fleet had every ship captain meet up for some big news. And big it was.

We was informed of a coming Borg invasion force. We all knew this day would could, and it finally had. All the task forces in 7th Fleet were to be immediately dis-banned and told our missions were complete for now. I feel fortunate to say that the North Carolina was one of the last ships to serve under Task Force 88. We would immediately reform under the single banner of the 7th Fleet to strengthen our forces into one solid fighting unit. After going over different battle strategies we were given our orders. Our mission was to stand by Earth and await deployment where needed.

About 3 hours ago we received word from the U.S.S. Alabama that a Borg force had been spotted in the Zeta Andromeda sector. We activated transwarp to DS9 and headed at best speed to encounter the Borg.

There were ships from every fleet it seemed like. At first it seemed like chaos, but for so many ships from so many fleets we were able to organized quite effectively. We managed to join up with the Alabama while other ships from the 7th engaged in different systems in the sector.

The intel about the Borg having a new "command" ship seemed to be correct. I've never seen anything that size before in space. The battle raged for what seemed like hours. Luckily with our advances in adapting Borg technology to our own, we were able to drive a nail in the coffin of the Borg. The North Carolina and Alabama I can say performed above and beyond and showed that the 7th is stronger then ever before. I wish I had more to say about the other ships in our engagement but there is still so much going on. I fear this breather of mine won't last to long, so it's back to the bridge for me.

While on a routine research mission on the edge of the Iota Pauonis sector the Solaces Sensors caught a borg armada headed for the sol system. Due to the nature of the Solace’s research we were too far from any federation facility to maintain a good communication signal to inform command, we were all alone. I had to make a choice fast. It was my duty to defend the federation no matter what. I ordered the solace to intercept the borg threat and go to read alert. It was a fierce battle, surprisingly the Solace came out of it victorious; however, at too great of a cost. The Solace was badly damaged, all of our research was lost, and 50% of my crew was KIA. Out of all the hardships I have endured as a captain writing letters to your lost crewmen’s families is the hardest. The Solace is on its way back to star base 39 for repair, and crew replacement.

Captains log: U.S.S. Essex

Today we engaged the Borg. the U.S.S. Essex was tasked to defend the Alpha Centauri sector block the Essex got smacked pretty hard we took major damage but are heading back to Earth spacedock for repairs and crew transfers. An EPS relay blew near engineering killing 3 crew 1 officer and injuring a dozen others, it was a hard hit to take but the Essex held together.

Location: Beta Ursae Sector

Captain Evan Green of the Hope Class Research Vessel USS Newton gripped the arms of his command chair with white knuckles as another explosion rocked his ship

"Report!" he snapped

" Shields are down to 20% Captain, structural integrity holding for now...our weapons have had little effect on the Borg ship" his First Officer replied without looking up from his console.

"Helm time until we can go to warp?" Green asked

"We will be clear of the systems primary gravity well in 1 standard minute and 45 seconds Captain." The Helm Officer replied tensely.

"Estimate the Borg will overtake us in 1 Standard minute tens seconds Captain." the First Officer said. Green gritted his teeth and tried to think of something...anything to get his ship and crew away from the Borg armada that had warped in almost on top of them three minutes ago.

"Captain...I have multiple ships coming out of warp directly in our path!" His Science Officer called out in a near panic, "We're cut off!...no...wait...they're Federation ships sir!"

"Onscreen!" Green ordered. The forward viewscreen shimmered from the aft view of the approaching Borg ships to the comforting sight of at least two dozen cruisers and escorts appearing out of warp.

"USS Newton this is the USS Leyte Gulf...Commodore Mavendorf commanding..." A firm female voice erupted from the com console "Take up a position behind the fleet and stand by to receive casualties...there will likely be some after this fight is over."

"Aye Sir...the Newton will stand by to assist." Green replied with relief in his voice...the Borg would now have to fight through an entire fleet to get to his ship.

He watched as the cruisers began to form up...his ship slipping through their line...the Newton came about as the Cruisers began to fire salvoes of torpedoes...smaller fast escorts raced to the flanks and began slashing hit and run strikes on the Borg flanks.

"We are the Borg...lower your shields and prepare to be assimilated...we will add your technological and cultural distinctiveness to our own." Came the mechanical voice across the comm channels just as a group of Klingon ships warped in.

On the Bridge of the USS Leyte Gulf:

"Open a channel to the KDF Flagship" Commodore Cleo Mavendorf ordered as her ship swung broadside to a Borg cube and unleashed a full phaser broadside.

"Channel is open Sir." Three of Nine her First Officer reported.

"Klingon vessels this is Commodore Mavendorf of the Federation 7th Fleet...Will you join us in battle against the Borg this day?" Mavendorf asked in accented Klingon

A moment later the visage of a Klingon appeared on the main screen...he looked at the Commodore who sat in her command chair regarding him calmly before replying in English "Your exploits are known among my House Commodore...you are an honorable warrior and have always fought bravely against us...it would bring me much honor to display your broken ship as a trophy....but today there are more...important enemies to fight...we will fight alongside your fleet today...together we will stop the Borg...or die glorious deaths trying."

Mavendorf smiled tightly "I have no intention of dying today General...I'd rather kick their asses and let the bards sing of our bravery...but we are honored to have you with us this day."

The Klingon roared with laughter "The stories do not do justice to your silver tongue Commodore....you speak like a true warrior indeed...my ships will concentrate on the Borg left...I wish you and yours honor and Glory."

Mavendorf laughed as well "Honor and glory to yours as well general...we will speak again later...Mavendorf out." The screen changed back to the raging battle in space...ships darted in and out among the Borg, beams and torpedoes criss crossing space between them...men and ships died.

"All cruisers execute attack pattern Delta 17 on my mark." Mavendorf ordered. She watched the screen for several moments "Mark!"

Greenhaven: "Red Alert, Shields up! Bring all weapons online. Initiate Raven Protocol."

"Aye sir, shields are up, Phasers are online." Replied the tactical officer. Red Alert klaxons sound across the station. Officers can be seen rushing to their stations.

"Distance to secondary sensor array?"

The ops officer looks down at her console, and pulls up the requested info. "They are eight million kilometers from the secondary array, which puts them just over nineteen million klicks from weapons range. Time to intercept, 1 hour 43 minutes."

Greenhaven: "Well that's a relief, at least we know the Graviton Displacer is working. Alright, lets get all civilians and anyone not needed to fight, into the secondary hull. As soon as they are aboard, detach the hull, and send them to Starbase 643."

Tactical: "Aye sir, evacuation time... 35 minutes"

Greenhaven: "Arm Torpedo tubes 1 through 85. Activate the cloak field, lets make sure they don't see the Kostua Turrets."

"yes sir. What about the research projects?"

"Move anything of value to the Halifax, destroy whatever can not be moved. Halifax will follow Raven Protocol to the letter."

"Sir, i am getting a reading from the secondary array, 198 point sources... looks like at least 60 cubes. They must know this is not just a minor starbase."

Greenhaven: "Dammit. Open 7th Fleet Emergency Channel."

"Channel Open"

"This is Kinkaid station, calling any 7th Fleet vessel. We are under attack by the Borg. Tracking estimates almost 200 Borg ships approximately 90 minutes away. Any 7th fleet vessel, please respond. Raven Protocol has been activated, civilians are being evacuated. Any and all ships needed to protect research station Kinkaid. End transmission"

"Sir, we are receiving multiple replies. It appears the Borg are attacking federation space at will. Most of the 7th Fleet is spread out, protecting who ever they can. The Fearless and Nagato have responded and are headed our way."

Greenhaven: "We will have to do what we can. Our defenses were never designed to fight something this large. We do have a few tricks up our sleeve. I just hope that help arrives soon."

Outside the station:

Hundreds of Kostua Turrets disappear as a large scale cloaking field activates. Escape pods launch from the station, as the rest of the civilian population, almost 16,000 people, move into the large "secondary hull," a removable section similar to the Galaxies Saucer Section.

Multiple ships undock from Kinkaid, and move to form up on the Mackinaw. Subspace links are created between the Mackinaw, Kinkaid Station, and the rest of the small fleet. The fight for Kinkaid Station is about to begin. . . .

Location: Beta Ursae Sector

Commodore Mavendorf had dozed off in her chair behind her desk in her ready room...the battle had gone well for her ad-hoc task force...they had stopped the Borg...at the cost of a dozen ships...the Klingons had lost all but three of their ships as well...but the few Borg ships left had withdrawn after the Borg Command ship had been destroyed.

The Leyte Gulf had suffered a small amount of damage...worse she had been boarded while her shields were down and nearly 1/4 of her crew had died or been assimilated...which for the most part was a death sentence...her standing orders were to kill any assimilated crew on sight.

It was true that you could free them from the grip of the Collective...her First Officer was proof of this...but it took time...and there was not time in the midst of a battle for control of a ship that was still fighting Borg ships..so her harsh order was followed.

The ready room door chime dinged and she lifter her head from her crossed arms resting on the desk top "Come." She called groggily.

Three of Nine entered and came to a stop precisely three steps from the front of her desk before speaking "Commodore...we have received a distress call from Kinkaid Station...the Borg have launched an all out attack...they have evacuated the civilians and are attempting to hold the Borg long enough for them to escape."

Mavendorf nodded "Acknowledge their distress call, give them our ETA at maximum warp Number One...then lay in course...maximum warp for Kinkaid."

Three paused a moment "Sir...we have lost a significant number of crew...is it wise to-"

"No it is NOT wise Number One." Mavendorf cut her First Officer's question off "But it is neccesary...the Gulf is still combat capable...and I will not ignore a distress call until we are no longer able to fight."

"Three simply nodded "Aye aye Sir."

"Get us there as fast as possible Number One...I'll be back on the bridge shortly." Mavendorf sighed as she ran a hand through her dark hair.

Three took this for the dismissal it was, she turned on her heel and walked out, leaving Mavendorf to stare at the top of her desk...the Leyte Gulf's motto and crest were emblazoned on a mug mat...the words "No odds too great" stared up at her..she half smiled thinking perhaps someone out there had a premonition when they came up with that.

"Captain?" her chief engineer whispered

Fleet Captain Skye woke on the bridge of the Essex, a ship she had not left in some 6 months

"yes Chief?" "Mam we are receiving a Distress Call from Kinkade station they have incoming Borg"

Skye looked around the bridge at each of her officers, then returning her Tired gaze to her Chief engineer." are we ready to fly?"

Chief Engineer Kathey Ming looked at a pad she was carrying, then returns her look to Skye "No sir the Essex is not ready we don't even have a warp core yet."

"understood. Skye looks at Marian and blurts out, "open a channel to starfleet command, in my office priority level 2"

"Helo admiral, as well as can be expected under the circumstances, no i actually want to ask a favor of you, i would like to transfer the name, registry and crew of the Essex into a new ship, yes i know its unusual but you owe me afte....., right not over the com system, can you do it? a new kind of ship? Built for this invasion? alright we'll test her out in combat, very good Admiral thank you[, well if we survive this i'll take you up on that Sir.

as i enter the Bridge, the crew is still hard at work trying to get the old Essex back up to speed for combat, i walk over to my old comfy chair thinking i'm going to miss this ship. i tap the ship wide com button on my armrest.

"This is Captain Skye to all hands, the Essex crew has performed admirably in the defense of Memory alpha and the surrounding systems, but we're not done yet, Starfleet has ordered the transfer of the Crew. The Essex namesake and Registry number will follow us to a new vessel, a prototype escort that was pushed thru production with the recent intelligence of the Borg invasion. we will be testing a new warp core slated for production 1 year from now, begin transfer procedures and lets get this move done quickly we're on the clock.

The crew made this transition quick and the new members are getting settled in, i couldn't be more happy with how the crew performed during this transition. good thing is the New ship was ready to go they had her staked up armed and waiting, almost as if this was planned by Starfleet. we're just about to leave earth space dock.

"All hands this is the captain" i spoke in a softer tone after pressing the ship wide button on the operations officers console. " we are responding to a distress call from Kinkade Research Station, this will not go well if we do'nt all perform our best and i know you will all do what ever you can, remember your training, trust your experience, and rely on your crew mates and we will see this to its end." i tap the button again and the bridge stays quiet for a second as i head to my new chair.

a word breaks the quiet as my first officer reports " Captain all systems read green and the crew is on standby"

"Very good Commander. Activate forward view screen"
"one quarter thrust, get us clear of space dock then head to Kinkade Station Maximum warp lets see what this bird can do."
