/PRIORITY ONE
STARDATE 2411.10.04
MSGID HONOR
TO ALL HANDS
FR 7HQ
SUBJ SPECIAL AWARD
As of Wednesday, October 5th, Commodore Augurson will take leave of the Fleet.
Mr. Augurson has some very serious health concerns, and wishes to spend his remaining time with his family and loved ones. There is no question that this is the right choice for him at this time.
I can only say that he will be missed. Augurson is one of the best people I have ever known, and it has been my privelege to call him my friend.
For the entirety of his service length to the Fleet, Mr. Augurson has been a positive force and friend to all. He has always been willing to lend a hand where able, to answer questions when possible; he has encouraged and motivated everyone he speaks to, without exception. He is well spoken, and his leadership and personality have been nothing short of inspiring. In short, he is the best possible representation of the Fleet; his ideals, charm, and courage are something we should all strive for.
The Medal of Honor of the 7th Fleet will now bear his name, as we can think of no better embodiment for our highest award.
Congratulations, and Godspeed, Commodore. I have faith that I will see you again someday, in a better place.
Awarded By Direction,
All Hands, 7th Fleet

My wife and I had the great honor to meet with him when we were down in North Carolina. His chest must have an extra-dimensional space; as massive as his chest is, his heart is way too big to be contained within.

I am almost without words to describe what an asset and a friend to the 7th Fleet, and to me personally, you have been Mr. Augerson.
If I had to say one word to describe you Sir... "Authentic" comes to mind.

Mr. Augerson
I have to say that you are truly an exceptional person. There are few people in this world that I respect, and you are at the top of the list. You will truly be missed in the fleet. Those STFs just won't be the same without you.
Please keep in touch.
I love ya man!
Your Friend,
Cory

Ohh Augurson.. seems like only yesterday we were giving each other grief about one thing or another, laughing and carrying on. From the 7th to the Black Eagles and back again. Our early morning chats on vent. We talked about life, family, and plans for the future. I really enjoyed sharing that with you.
As you know I was at the Star Trek Convention in Chicago. Leonard Nimoy was there and it was his last convention. He read us a poem he wrote and while listening to it I literally thought of you. I said to myself, "This is definitely an Augurson poem."
"I am an incurable romantic
I believe in hope, dreams and decency
I believe in love,
Tenderness and kindness.
I believe in mankind.
I believe in goodness,
Mercy and charity
I believe in a universal spirit
I believe in casting bread
Upon the waters.
I am awed by the snow-capped mountains
By the vastness of oceans.
I am moved by a couple
Of any age – holding hands
As they walk through city streets.
A living creature in pain
Makes me shudder with sorrow
A seagull’s cry fills me
With a sense of mystery.
A river or stream
Can move me to tears
A lake nestling in a valley
Can bring me peace.
I wish for all mankind
The sweet simple joy
That we have found together.
I know that it will be.
And we shall celebrate
We shall taste the wine
And the fruit.
Celebrate the sunset and the sunrise
the cold and the warmth
the sounds and the silences
the voices of the children.
Celebrate the dreams and hopes
Which have filled the souls of
All decent men and women.
We shall lift our glasses and toast
With tears of joy."
Sir, wherever life may take you, remember we are, all of us, your brothers.
It will always be so.

Mr. Augerson I am sorry I missed the event for you last night . I will not hide behind my own issues or excuses simply I should have been there, I am sorry for not and I am ashamed . Everyone in this fleet has learned from you quite a few things . You have been level headed and fair when dealing with people, you have shown great kindness and understanding when fleet mates have been troubled. Your words and wisdom have personally helped me and guided others. When someone told a joke or a funny remark you laughed, it was vibrant and infectious before you know it the whole room in vent is laughing, what a wonderful gift. You sir have taught me that there are things you do and don't do in fleet , to respect others and most important to listen. Mr. Augerson , sir you have been the gold standard for the 7th fleet simply sir... you have made us better.
“The part of me that is staying will very much miss the part of you that is going.”
