I played tabletop Battletech for years growing up. Some of the video games based off the universe have been really good, and some were just ok. I have to admit, I'm a bit curious about this one.

MWO beta invites are pretty random as far as I can tell...if nothing else everyone who's applied will be in July 17th

I was always a Davion fan myself, but I have no problem playing as part of the Combine. I just refuse to play as one of those Free Rashalhague League Hippies or one of the crappy Liao people.

Probably me I've always been a fan of the Battletech Universe. Up until Jihad anyway but these games take place pre clan invasion.

The Beta is under a NDA. But I will say, if your a fan of the Mechwarrior serries and of the battletech game itself... then you'll enjoy it. They just started selling their founder packages which offer a few things. Hope to see you guys on field.

Without violating the NDA I will say: 100 battles so far...12 wins...2 matches survived...in other words...about my usual for learning a new set of controls

I'm debating the $60 Founder option (all depends on if I'm getting a Father's Day gift this year). $120 is way too far out of the realm of possibility, and I don't see the point to the $30 one. If I do get the $60 option, my only quandary would be Jenner, Hunchback or Catapult. To be really honest, it'd mostly be a choice between the Jenner and Catapult. In that era, both are still viable options/platforms (at least as far as the tabletop version goes).

Jenner:
Pros: Fast, maneuverable, decent close range bite
Cons: Fragile, heat management issues (not exactly uncommon for that era)

Catapult:
Pros: Good long range and close range weaponry, decent maneuverability for a heavy 'mech
Cons: Ammo bins, no arms for CQC

The founder stuff is tempting but I can't see putting down that kind of money for something I've never seen. Last time I did something like that was buying a preordered lifetime with STO. I just don't trust companies anymore.
