July 2412 Command Staff minutes

1) Events planned for August:

3 -4 Aug: Federation side Fleet mark events
17 - 18 Aug: KDF side Fleet mark events

2) Weekly event night change

Monday: "Kick-A-Tribble" - KDF fleet activities
Tuesday: "TOS Tuesday" - for running episodes "old school" (TOS uniforms and ships)
Thursday: STFs

3) Fleet Bank and Starbase

Lots of data samples and gear in the bank; Fleet Starbase progress is going well

4) Public Affairs Officer (PAO) - FLTCPT Himura is looking to do a weekly recording of fleet events to put out as another means of recruiting

5) RAdm p'Rett to resign as Chief of Staff (CoS) effective 1 Sep. As some know, I will be starting college full-time (13 credit hours) on 20 August. Between that and family duties, I'm not likely to have the time to devote to this position. FLTCPT Shackelford will be taking over from me on 1 Sep.

5a) CoS position will become a 6 to 8 month term of service starting with FLTCPT Shackelford. It is also intended that the person that is a likely candidate to succeed them will be taught some of the ropes as an aide-de-camp during that term.

Next staff meeting will be 30 Aug at 2100 hrs EDT, in the tactical briefing room on board the Fleet starbase.

If Officer Himura needs someone to edit audio and to do voiceovers, I have extensive knowledge in that field and can definitely help out with that.

I just want to know how the next CoS(after huck) will be chosen. Is this restricted to FltCs or can anyone be nominated, or is it just a command staff pick?

I had suggested a couple folks as my replacement, but, ultimately, the Fleet Admiral picks.

I feel a bit compelled to elaborate on my response. Even though it is Fleet Admiral Fortin's final say, he did listen to my inputs and reasons for my suggestions. In my time with the Fleet, it has been my experience that he will generally listen to input and consider it.

Though I have my educated guesses on the qualities they look for in a CoS candidate, it is not my place to air them, lest it put the Fleet Admiral and Deputy Commander in a tight spot. (No, that is not in any way, shape or form intended to be a slight or criticism of them.)
