Apologies in advance if this isn't the correct subforum for this.
My engineering captain, Kriandre, is about to reach vice-admiral. I've been contemplating for a long time now on which ship to purchase for use in endgame content. I'm well aware this will most likely not be the only ship I purchase as I progress through it and gain more experiences. She currently flies a mirror universe advanced escort, which I just love. I enjoy the speed and firepower and have had little to no trouble with missions.
What I'm seeking is advice on which to ship to purchase. I plan to acquire enough store points to purchase one ship. I've been looking at the andorian escorts but would like to know all of my options. I understand engineers tend to fill the "tank" role of a group but I'd rather focus more dps as I'm still learning the many ins and outs of STO. I would be happy to expand to include such a role later.
So, any and all advice would be appreciated. Again, I apologize if this was the incorrect subforum. This is my first time at creating a topic.

Thats kind of a tough question to answer. I don't think we have a great many engineers who fly escorts.
Honestly, any of the ships you might buy from the zen store are probably worth the cost. I've been very happy with all the ones I've purchased, so in that sense regardless of what you pick I don't think you'll be let down.
The andorian escorts do a lot of damage, but are fragile (more so than other escorts).
Choosing the defiant retrofit or the promethues multi vector are good escort choices as well; and buying either one of those ships will make their fleet versions considerably less expensive should you decide to upgrade them in the future.
If you want to hop into a cruiser, but still have a a decent number of tactical slots for damage output, then the Regent or the Excelsior retrofit are worth a look.
I guess ultimately, pick what you think will be the most fun for you to fly. I don't see how you could go wrong by trusting your personal instinct; if you think a certain ship will be fun, it probably will be. You can't really make a wrong choice buying any of these ships, they're all very good in one way or another.

I have an ENG that flies the Veteran Chimera Heavy Destroyer and enjoy it; granted, it's not a Z-Store ship, so doesn't fit your criteria. The only non-cruiser I've purchased so far was the Andorian 3-pack; while they are definitely glass cannon-ish, if you go with the Chyral, you can make it survivable enough.

Besides what has already been said the only thing I have to add is the Heavy Escort Carrier has a LCDR slot for Engineer bridge officer making it more idle I guess you can say to an engineer. Also a few of the escorts have 4 Engineer console slots on the fleet versions which can allow you to take more punishment compared to other escorts depending on consoles used.
I'm with Shack, fly what you want and you should enjoy it. I can say that I enjoy most every ship I have, except my favorite class due to the hanger on it. Got tired of launching stuff just to see it explode immediately in a warp core blast.

Thanks for the replies. It doesn't -have- to be a z-store ship. Just wasn't aware of being able to get one outside that or the auction house. I'm a ways from being able to afford a ship on the auction house.

Just a noobie's (less than one year of play) point of view. Why rush? Also, what do you want do with the game? PvE, PvP, or just hang out with your Fleet Homies and do STF's. There is no right or wrong answer, but take your time. Nothing says you can't start another toon and play from a Tact prospective. Currently, I have four level 50 toons (2 Fed, 2 KDF) and a mix of disciplines.
It all comes down to this -- how do you want to play? My advice is just take your time and enjoy the game.
Respectfully,

I have four characters myself, two engineers and two tactical. I'd like to do some raiding and fleet activities. Not sure about PVP yet. What little I've done wasn't too fun, but I was much lower level than everyone else in the fleet. So, yeah. At least everyone was kind enough to hand my ass back to me when done. I will give it another try though, but for now, PVE is my main focus.
