Admiral Van Wormer has long provided outstanding leadership and dedication to the 7th Fleet. To wit:

- Admiral Van Wormer served as Chief of Staff during the Fleet's formation, developing and providing may of the administrative structures we employ to this day.

- As Deputy Commander of the 7th Fleet for almost 3 years, Admiral Van Wormer has maintained good spirit; thereby maintaining a positive level of morale within the Fleet.

- Along with Admiral Fortin, Deputy Commander Van Wormer has consistently been successful at analyzing the 'big picture,' moving the Fleet in a direction that continues to allow for growth of the fleet, the enjoyment of the Fleet by its members, and encouraged dedication of the member base to the Fleet community.

- Admiral Van Wormer has been crucial to the creation and ongoing success of the Heritage Fleet subdivision. He has dutifully led weekly engagements centered around the Heritage Fleet theme since its inception.

Without Admiral Don Van Wormers leadership, dedication, and positive attitude, the 7th Fleet would not be where it is today. As such, I respectfully request that the Admiral be awarded the Meritorious Service Medal.
